In AoE 2 DE, unit tooltips will tell you outright what a unit is effective against, but in AoE 3 DE it’s either very vague, not precise enough, or just plain wrong. Many units don’t deal bonus damage against anything, even though the tooltips tell you they’re good against something, and some units are good against something, but the tooltips just give a generic description
Examples : Tooltips say musketeers are effective against cavalry, but don’t mention only their melee attacks deal bonus damage. They say grenadiers are effective against infantry, but don’t mention that the bonus damage is virtually non-existent. They say that crossbowmen/longbowmen/etc are effective against infantry, but don’t mention that they only deal bonus damage against melee infantry… and that they’re also effective against cavalry. They say that pikemen are effective against cavalry, but don’t mention that they’re also good against infantry. And so go on, and so go on
And it also doesn’t help that there’s no unit encyclopedia like in AoM, where you can compare stats and bonus damage without needing to manually create one of every unit and note down what’s really good against what
Finally, it also doesn’t help that the tech tree is a confused mess and that the scroll bar barely works
