Suggestion - Roman Empire did not have Bombards but they did use Ballista like the DLC: 'Chronicles: Alexander the Great' Siege Ballista

What if the Romans got Siege Ballastia like unit?

In Age Of Empires 2, The Romans do not get access to gunpowder units as historically that wasn’t something they used but they did use torsion engines like the Ballastia and it raises the question? What if the Romans got a reskin of the bombard unit that unlocks in the Castle Age that’s inferior to the Trebuchet and Bombard that both unlock in Imperial Age as a Siege Unit? This would give the Romans a massive power spike in Castle Age that then quickly declines by Imperial Age.

In the recent “DLC’ Chronciles: Alexander the Great there is a unit that is known as a Siege Ballastia that functions as a replacement for the bombard cannon obviously it would require tweaking as you want a unit that fits the niche but is inferior to gunpowder, with unit progression logically working something like this Ballastia > Siege Ballastia.

Would be funny if Chronicles Romans get Siege Ballista but Base Game Romans don’t get Bombard Cannon.

I dont get it Chronicles and even some civs basically solution for the “timeline” problem. Yet for some reason we see all these errors for no reason at all. Just simply use re-skinned Siege Ballista/Gastrophetes from Chronicles.

Regardless I think we’ll have 4-5 Romans civs. Romaboos will enjoy it while another half will hate it for it.

Their military changed quite a lot during the 3rd century and it’s widely seen as a downgrade (in fact adaptations to a weaker economy and needing more flexibility against constant threats)

It would be and that’s why they need it, even if it’s subpar.
