Good evening,
I’m a long-time strategy and multiplayer gamer, and a proud member of the Spanish community. After many years playing titles like Warcraft III and now AoE2: DE, I’ve gathered a few ideas that I believe could greatly enhance the appeal and engagement of the multiplayer experience.
Let’s get straight to the point:
1. Team Game Elo Needs Refinement
Currently, the Elo system for team games feels a bit disconnected from the reality of gameplay. Matches in 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 are vastly different experiences, both strategically and mechanically. This is something we’ve seen clearly in tournaments and community feedback over time. Having separate Elo ratings for each format would bring more balance, clarity, and motivation to players, encouraging them to explore different team sizes and enjoy more variety in multiplayer.
2. Weekly Automated Tournaments
One of the features I really admired in Warcraft III was the automated tournament system. League of Legends’ “Clash” mode is another great example. AoE2: DE could benefit from something similar—scheduled weekly tournaments (e.g., 2v2 one week, 4v4 the next) where players can sign up in advance, compete at predetermined times, and earn exclusive rewards like banners, profile icons, or unit skins. You could also experiment with point-based formats over several days. While there are always challenges (scheduling, potential exploits), the fun and competitiveness would likely outweigh them.
3. Give Clans a Purpose
The Clan tab could become so much more. Imagine if clans could compete against one another, earn Elo collectively, and unlock cosmetic rewards based on total points or milestones. This would not only create stronger community bonds but also give players a reason to team up and represent their groups with pride.
Thank you for taking the time to read through these suggestions. I’m sure many players would appreciate these kinds of improvements, and I hope this can spark some positive discussion. Looking forward to hearing more ideas from others as well!
Regards!
