I would have expected a patch following their move to cancel the free version. It strikes me as quite odd that the developers are waiting until September 10th to update the game; there are currently quite a few bugs that could have been fixed before the new DLC launchesā€”though, on the other hand, perhaps there will be more patches after the DLC comes out, which might explain the lack of updates so far. ---

Another thing I noticed in the official DLC trailer post is that, in addition to the announced content, there will be a lot of extra materialā€”a point highlighted at the end of the post: Plus: āž”2 new game modes āž”2 challenge scenarios āž”25+ new random and historical maps āž”Tons of bonus content & much more! šŸ‘† I hope this kind of hype isnā€™t just to grab attention, but that it actually turns out to be trueā€”that there might be a few unannounced additions to the DLC, like a surprise. I mention this because, otherwise, it would seem like they might have gone a bit overboard with what they claimed in todayā€™s trailer announcement. ---

I donā€™t want to look pessimistic but ā€œtons of bonus contentā€ probably refers only to profile icons and explorer skins. Now as for the ā€œ& much moreā€, usually it means nothing at all. Iā€™d be happy to be wrong, though. ---

Iā€™m very happy to receive the Hero Cosmetic Pack Vol. 1 for free, as previously announced, but I was also expecting an update today with the new beta content that isnā€™t part of the new DLC. (For those who havenā€™t noticed yet, today they gave away the United States Civilization, Mexico Civilization, Kunoichi skin and Vol1 Hero Cosmetic Pack DLCs to those who already owned AOE3) ---

Well, they added content from old DLCs to the base game for free, but as far as I understand, they didnā€™t actually release a patch today alongside that move. šŸ˜³ ---

Youā€™re actually right about that. Since the House of Romanov and Oldenburg are linked through marriage, this makes sense. I thought for a minute weā€™d be getting another royal house.
