It is great that they are working on improvements. I also don’t think anyone was claiming the game was perfect.

Mocking others when all they are really saying is the game has a focus and priorities which may not be in line with others’ seemingly unrealistic expectations, it is just a reflection of bad characters that need greater improvement than the game.

Especially when those comments are trying to be based on reality, however disappointing elements of the game might be.

Yeah, AOE3DE runs like ass. Still has beautiful water, just as the og AOE3 has.
What does bad optimisation of AOE3DE have to do with AOE4s water?

Tbh, I wouldn’t mind if they delayed the game. I like the graphics and the gameplay, but the glitchiness is a different story. If there’s still this much going on, they should take more time. I’m sure the devs are probably scrambling to do all they can in the given time, so I wouldn’t be mad.

The thing that I said is that before complaining about visuals of aoe4 first see the bad things of you favorite game , that’s what I said!

Why though? The visuals are great, they just run badly because they’re quickly bolted onto a 15 year old game. What does that have to do with AOE4 and how is that @howlingwolfpaw’s problem?

He made an statement about aoe4 , the I made one about aoe3, It’s how it works.

He compared aoe4 with aoe3DE , in terms of graphics (the ā€œweakā€ thing about aoe4) then I will compare the weak thing about aoe3de.

I never said AOE3 DE… I only play legacy, as was very disappointed with DE and tried to get a refund. There are some things that interest me about it now a year later as wanting to try it again…(balance changes, deck changes, new civs and maps) but yeah… the computer I built to play legacy, does not play it well enough for DE and I need to upgrade my RAM. On legacy the only problems I have really had was with ā€œabandonedā€ servers. AOE3 graphics are really too good, I put things on low settings and no shadows for better visual scanning, but it still looks as good or better (especially water) than AOE4, and even if that is a subjective thought, the graphics are fine enough. DE did improve graphics, in close ups, but also they messed up the units and readability and replaced textures, that were once hand painted giving it a game made of real art. The amount of detail, and thought about everything put into it is just too high a bar I guess.

It seems so much work went into the visuals that were really quite fine and all the players really wanted were balance changes and some fun new civs, maps, natives, etc… oh, and more players… while its cool to zoom in on a tiger and see its whiskers, for the amount that changed was for some diminishing returns and overall hurt the game more than anything as it became hard to distinguish many units… I never had that issue ever in legacy.

I would be ok with AOE4 level of graphics, which are generally good (though the scale looked better larger) IF… IF… they put the same amount of detail in the variety of units and strategies. They all seem like a pretty standard template civ and have like 1-2 unique units per civ, there is not much real variety or asymmetry as they all still get just better versions of the same types of units. AOE3 had civs missing certain unit types, which really changed how they played. and so many mercs, natives, HC shipments, that create so much variety, I have played the game countless thousands of times and never tire of it. I have heard AOE4 talks about economy and they balance it like every civ pretty much has the same economic potential, but have to access it in different ways. AOE3 civs have very different economic curves, which is then balanced out with weaker or stronger military potentials creating another asymmetrical design.
