The stables of Greeks have no animations for their horse models
There is no animation for the horse model of the Atlantis’ counter barracks building
The stables of Greeks have no animations for their horse models
sadly maybe it wont be changed since its how the building is designed.
if i am not mistaken, it was the same in legacy too(?) AoE4 has this problem a lot. all its building are static. AoM at least has a lot more life in its aesthetics.
Yes old AoM didn’t have animations either. Also assume it’s static and very hard if not possible to animate.
But another topic which bothered me a while and came to my mind now is that is unnecessary strange/weird that all main horse units are in the stables for Greek but not Atlanteans. Contarius should be Counter Barracks…
That’s because every culture uses a different ‘‘barracks’’ system and the atlanteans don’t have ‘‘stables’’ or ‘‘archery ranges’’ like the greeks. They have a system with two ‘‘barracks’’. One for main line units (swordsmen, archers, heavy cavalry) and one for counter units (spearmen (in this case the club dudes), skirmishers (in this case cavalry skirmishers) and an anti infantry unit (the wrestlers with ballistas). It’s not ‘‘unnecessary strange’’ in my opinion, it’s just another way to categorize (or sorting) military units. In AoM things like that help differentiate the different factions even more. I personally like that.
The egyptians for example differentiate with just one ‘‘barracks’’ building for all their foot soldiers (including ranged units). Instead of stables, they build their cavalry in their fortress. Other factions build their siege weapons in the fortress. The egyptians instead use a different building for that, the siege workshop.
So the counter barracks of the atlanteans are not stables. they are military buildings for specific counter units in design. Maybe this explanation helps you somehow
Thanks for the long explanation and how constructive you formulated it.
I personally knew that it’s intended (never thought about the certain flavour part for each civ) but I still am bothered here with the visualisation already in old AoM.
Don’t get me wrong it’s nothing important for me otherwise I would have made a thread about it years ago.
It’s just that I think the one building just looks entirely just for infantry the other one for cavalry and archers (which also would be unique) cause it simply looks like it. I know club guy is a specific counter but so is kinda arcus. That’s why I think club guy should be in the building which looks like it trains melee infantry. (Again nothing really important but still sometimes a bit bothering for me)
I mean they changed it for Norse too.
Calvary now is in one building with heroes (makes sense cause heroes and guys with horses often were noble persons in nordic society as far as I know) - but here I am bothered that now only huscarl (beside siege) is trained in the hillfort. I think hillfort should just be for siege and maybe for a special unit like Greeks or for very strong and special cavalry like for Egypt. (Huscarls don’t look enough “strong and buff” for that in my opinion e.g. Godi unit looks more special. (But that’s now more and more off topic and an aesthetic perspective thing which bothers me just a bit but enough that I hope that at least some mod guy is willing to change that)
But again thanks for the explanation! I am just more an “aesthetic/look guy” than a “logic/number guy” xD
I agree that counter barracks literally looking like Archery Range is a bit counter intuitive.
