 DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

Last report of the day: It is nice that AI units are smarter about what battles to take and what not to, but:

  1. CANNON: Get locked in a loop of trying to pack and unpack, no shooting! Cannon can’t escape from cavalry or hand infantry. So if cannon is hounded by horses and entirely surrounded, its better to just stay in bombard mode and try to get as many kills as possible. If they limber, they’ll die for naught.

  2. LIGHT INFANTRY: Same thing. Archers and Skirmishers that are surrounded by cavalry or other melee unit should not try to retreat. They will die anyway if they try to retreat, so might as well fight. Only those archers and skirms that are not surrounded should try to run away.

SOMETIMES, in the heat of battle many of these units will be turning 180 degrees and back repeatedly without shooting. Yes they are kiting - but its not kiting unless they ACTUALLY SHOOT, then run off and shoot again. They should let their shooting animation finish before kiting away. Happens with skirms, dragoons, musks, everything.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

 List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Play against AI
  2. Observe kiting behavior

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

 What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

CANNON: They shouldn’t get stuck in a loop of packing and unpacking when faced with melee units. They’ll die anyway, so might as well shoot. Against ranged units, they can try to escape.

LIGHT INFANTRY: Trying to retreat when snared is no good. Fight and get some kills/ reduce opponent hp. Only retreat from losing fight if it is possible to do so.

OTHER UNITs: Generally speaking, kiting without finishing the attack animation is sometimes very pointless, as you’re not really damaging enemy troops, just moving back and forth endlessly.

HI @DiplexBoss6 !

Thank you for reporting to us the issue with the cannons and units that do not kit well, we are already tracking those issues!

However we could not reproduce this one:

  1. LIGHT INFANTRY: Same thing. Archers and Skirmishers that are surrounded by cavalry or other melee unit should not try to retreat. They will die anyway if they try to retreat, so might as well fight. Only those archers and skirms that are not surrounded should try to run away.

Do you have a video or save game where it happens?

Thanks!

I don’t exactly have the save game but there was some games where my attacked a group of Gurkha with hussars and they started to retreat back to the base after getting snared. To be fair I don’t know if they were heading to base or just trying to move away.

But they should have just fought back because there is no way they would survive after getting snared.
