I just wanted to add that the new loading screens are a huge step in the right direction. Casuals will love such immersive experiences. But I wanted to add some feedback maybe others can add theirs:
The fonts and the style doesn’t feel mythological. It feels mostly like tekken. They need some fiddling and the “vs” part either needs to get removed or made very small. replacing it with an Icon of axe and sword clashing is better.
The portraits for Team games should also become their full version. League’s template is a good place to take inspirations from:
I know this is very low quality picture but I think I made it clear how it can be implemented.
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: The game loads too fast. Add a 3 second timer to the loading screen. It will make players ready and they’ll get the time to show off their portraits.
EDIT: I haven’t played league in a long time sorry if this isn’t the current looks of the loading screen.
I would also note that the new loading screens do not show the map descriptions anymore. Not super useful for old skirmish, but provided some flavor, and was used by custom maps a fair bit.
I’m afraid three seconds isn’t enough. You don’t have time to look at the portraits. Also, in team games, after the loading screen disappears, an archaic window appears for waiting for other players. Is it possible to combine them?
Yes but the fact that games loads fast is a huge plus. I don’t want to give up on that. Maybe we can buff the waiting time to 5 seconds but I think if we remove the “waiting for players…” message at the beginning and add it to the loading screen that would be enough
The example you have set also features the small icons of the faces. I was more talking about the full portraits. They will feel a lot more immersive.
