Title says it all. Is there an option if we want to play aoe’s classic style with no queue, slingers, inland map layout, etc)
I don’t think there will be. You can’t play without conquerors on AoE2HD either.
i totally agree queue is just sux as iam old aoe player i think that’s true and soo far correct it might be no queue just like the original versions and slingers i hope these developers will take this point as well because it comes from peoples who played this game more then 15 years i think
I have been playing this game since this game came out. I am still playing nowadays, we play the inland map all the time. ROR doesn’t have inland map generator(conti comes close but not enough). The most main issue in AOE is villager speed balance between other civs.
I’m pretty sure they won’t. And I think it would be stupid if they would. Let’s face it, they are still doing this to make money, not to satisfy some old players. Which means the game needs to be as accessible as possible. Removing queue would make it harder for new players who played other RTS’s since it is pretty much a standard feature. Also, removing slingers would be bad since it would greatly disrupt balance of the game.
As for inland map type, I am not sure what you are talking about, because last time I checked the inland map type is available in the Rise of Rome, it just contains some additional map types. Not that you would want to play inland, because continental is vastly superior in terms of balance.
How i it understand you can play the new version with new features and Graphic or you can play the old game, how it was 1997.
The feature set starts from the RoR edition, no pre-RoR feature-set will be supported.

That’s right, I have only played the Rise of Rome pretty much. So why don’t you explain, because Inland is definitely a map type in the Rise of Rome too and I can’t see the difference.

If I remember correctly the original aoe did have queues. But you could only queue up to 5 units max. That souldnt be that unfamiliar to new player’s seeing as blizzard rts’s like SC2 have the same restriction even today
No, the original AOE did not have queue. You have to wait until the unit is created and than click again. Which is very unfriendly for new players that are familiar with more modern RTS’. But a cap on how large the queue is would be good.

This is not correct. The original AOE never had queues, only ROR and later versions.
This is a screenshot of ROR showing that the inland map type is available. I also tested with both and I can’t see any differences. So if you mean something else, please explain.
Inland is never played in multiplayer ROR, because clearly continental is a much fairer map type (everyone has water and fish nearby).

Inland also had the habit of spawning like 6 elephants in the proximity of one player while the other got none. It was extremely luck depended.
But for some that is a part of the charm - I’d wish age games continued to provide a few maps that were extremely random, even aoe2s megarandom is too concerned with fair distributions to scratch that itch
It seems they’ll go from Upatch (=RoR with bugfixes) which I personally don’t mind at all.

I agree that is a good place to start
