The way they are running this whole thing is wrong. The plan needs to be seriously revisited. The 200k monthly goal is totally unrealistic and only makes everyone look bad. F2P is not a way to grow user on trees. It needs careful planning and management, otherwise it would not be a much more competitive field than RTS combined.
(1) If I want to get that reward, the ONLY thing I can contribute is one game. Then it is completely left to the “community”.
(2) You are asking for “unique players”, which relies more on new players especially returning new players. The core players will play the game anyway and they can only contribute to one game. The new players on the other hand do not have enough motivation to play it.
(3) If you do nothing else to promote the game (events, advertisements, new contents, etc.), they player number would naturally drop in the long term (you can see 10k to 7k peak in two months). Then the objective will only become more and more difficult to attain. If anyone bases their assessment of the future of the game on this data, it will only result in less efforts and investments. You’re creating a vicious cycle that you can completely avoid.
(4) “New unique players” would not care about one skin ----- do you think newcomers would choose to join the game if they see a community reward?
How to do it (if you really want this mode to succeed. If not then forget about it):
(1) Adjust it to a more achievable objective. If you feel directly decreasing the goal looks awkward, then change it to unique games or etc.
(2) Accompany that “community mission” with some personal missions with smaller rewards like past rewards. This would make people more motivated and not require much additional work.
(3) Find ways to promote it. Currently the only promotion it has is the routine rotation and it’s not very intriguing.
