Tokyo game show 2024 will there have to be Age of mythology retold’s Chinese

I would agree if we wouldn’t have seen two male major god statues already beide Nüwa

Two? I’ve only seen one god statue besides Nüwa.
The man in the background of the water temple/palace scene with the big pillar and the big fish in the pond.
Where’s the other one?

Here is post that compiles them

That bit was a reply to someone else, as you can see in the quote above it.

Yes!!! I hope they have other things for AOE4 and AOE2 as well

Both men. Both with beards. One has a longer beard and holds a stick or wand or something and the other one has shorter beard and looks younger with his hand open. At least that’s what I saw.

Looks like Great Flood god power hoping it isn’t so strong against units like in EE I hated when comp used that power in Comp Stomps.

Yes it was overpowered. I like the ideas as a GP but i also hope they tuned it down a bit.

Since this flood is coming from a big lake it might be a scripted even in a campaign mission and not represent the power of the flood available in Multiplayer/Skirmish.

I checked the link, and double checked the trailer. I see them too. Don’t think either of them has horns (could be wrong, if the horns are tiny) so I don’t think either of them is Shennong.

The Way they mentioned Nüba in the video description, it seemed like she’s going to be a major goddess. Is China coming with 4 of them right away, or did they give Xingtian the name Nüba, either by accident or to fuck with us?

The description could also be referring to Minor Gods.
Especially since Minor Gods are the ones that unlock Myth unity and God Powers.

Why would they mention a minor god, but only one of the major gods? Seems strange to me.
(But then again, until the Beta, we only saw Gaia and Oceanus with the Atlanteans, so that wouldn’t be a first)

the same thing do i assume for the bull-demon. i also think he is a campaign only unit. same goes for the wooden ox. some here speculate its is a siege or myth unit but i think its either a campaign unit - or economy unit as some also already suggested.

Almost all teasers, trailers, descriptions etc. are almost always misleading/vague in some way, show non-gameplay scenes made specifically for marketing. They also don’t show everything, eg. Freyr marketing was same. Retold trailers show non-gameplay scenes to create WOW effect…

Not necessarily misleading but also some mechanics might just change between the trailer and release since balancing can change up a lot of things.

It’s never been to a degree of showing units or buildings or mentioning gods or creatures that ended up not existing. Armies bigger than they can be, combinations of myth units that aren’t possible, that kind of stuff, sure.

Here is a theoretical list of possible new units compared to the original units.

Apparently many of the 1st and 2nd age units will no longer appear, such as the mini Wukong or the Chinese zombies, but that is because they will be replaced by other, let’s say, “cooler” units.

Let’s wait to see what the new Azure Dragon will be like, because the rest of the Chinese beasts from the 4 directions are already there, and even the one in the center, the Yellow Dragon (I want to assume that it will be a titan or like the Nordic Nidhogg, summoned by divine power)

Tiger with wings and big horn is likely a Qiongqi, one of the four beasts, which are basically the evil four monsters, in the same way Vermillion Bird, Black Turtle, White Tiger, and Azure Dragon are the four directions.

The other three are the Taotie, the Hundun, and the Taowu.
(I am not claiming to be an expert, and could very well be wrong. I’m simply repeating what I find on the internet. A week ago, those names all looked like someone dropped the letters in a scrabble game to me. So if I got something completely wrong, I apologise.)

With that being said, are we sure we’ve seen every unit the Chinese have?

No but the majority. There are still units missing especially if we exclude black turtle as a water myth unit and the wooden ox as an economy myth unit.

So, we may have two, maybe three, myth units still missing, and perhaps even a couple heroes or special units.
Plus, not every God always has only one myth unit. Some gods come with two, and in rare cases even three (Hel comes to mind) so it could go up to five (but likely not more)
