Since there seems to be limited interest in mixing Oceanic and Caribbean civilizations into a single DLC, here is an alternative concept: a Tropical DLC focused on the Caribbean Sea and Tropical American civilizations.
New Region & Architecture: Tropical America
A new regional set representing tropical island and coastal societies, along with amazonian rainforest ones, with buildings made of wood, stone, and organic materials adapted to humid environments.
Civilizations
Caribs (Lesser Antilles)
Naval and Infantry Civilization
Civilization Bonuses
War Canoe line moves 10% faster
Barracks units train 15% faster
Villagers gather fish and oysters 20% faster
Castles require 50% less stone; the remaining cost is replaced with wood
Unique Unit Kalinago Raider – Fast infantry unit with bonus damage against Villagers, designed for raids and coastal harassment.
Taíno (Greater Antilles)
Ranged Civilization
Civilization Bonuses
War Canoes have increased Line of Sight
Predator animals provide 100 food
Lumber Camp technologies are researched for free upon advancing to each Age
Skirmishers and Blowgunners recover 10 HP for each enemy unit killed
Unique Unit Estólica Thrower – A skirmisher-type unit effective against archers, using darts launched with an estólica.
Regional Units
Blowgunner – Regional ranged unit. Attacks apply poison damage by default, lasting 5 seconds.
War Canoe – Regional naval unit line that replaces the Galley line.
Macana Warrior – Regional infantry line replacing the Militia line. Can scout and is also able to fish and gather oysters.
Tupi Rework
The Tupi civilization receives a rework to better fit the Tropical America region:
Uses the Tropical America architecture set
Slinger is replaced by the Blowgunner
Champi Warrior is replaced by the Macana Warrior line
Gains access to the War Canoe line
Retains the Settlement, redesigned with a tropical aesthetic, becoming the first regional building shared between two regions
But alas, I am asking the same thing, what’s so special about this unit that’s not already covered by the typical skirmisher? Does it throw 2 javelins like Mayans?
This is like Slavs’ Castle Age tech (Detinets) but more powerful (50% instead of 40%).
It doesnt need to be unnecessarily gimmicky or weaker to getting flattened by mangonels so its a passthrough anti archer… why didnt yoy just say that instead of being extra wordy
