The two Feudal Age buildings do look noticeably different.
The Castle Age one doesn’t seem to have a door on the side facing us, so maybe the building can be rotated into all 4 directions, not just 2. Which would really be a 1st.
This could be anything. We’ll have to wait and see.
The only thing that tend to hint it’s the same, is how the feudal age houses are, I mean the roof styles of them, one is the same very triangular, while others have this two-stage roof design.
One of the Feudal Age buildings is clearly the same as the Castle and Imperial Age building but the other one looks different. But the other one also might have some parts hidden and just be a Trade Workshop or something.
There is clearly something between the Barracks and the Longhouse. Which the other version of the Longhouse all don’t have.
The road goes underneath the Town Centre too so it might be clipping into this 3x3 building too.
The other suspicious thing is that we see the Castle Age and Imperial Age version of the same building in the same screenshot in the same player colour.
So are we maybe talking about up to 4 different buildings here?
Some of the other buildings are also split between the ages in that screenshot. It’s easy to make buildings have architecture from different ages belong to the same civilization.
However, you should keep in mind that it can be difficult to make predictions based on screenshots alone, because the developers mixed the Jurchen and Khitan unique units in the Three Kingdoms DLC.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the Viking Berserkers look a bit different in the new DLC images; it seems to me that they used to have horns on their helmets but don’t anymore, and from what I can see in the photos, their armor looks a bit different than it used to.
Honestly, I would have preferred it if they had used the Viking Berserker look from AoE IV; the original AoE II Berserker design never really convinced me. Besides, I see no issue with changing their appearance, given that AoM: Retold and AoE IV use practically the same outfit—bear skins and axes—for their Viking Berserkers; AoE II is the only outlier, and the only one that deviates from historical reality and actual depictions of them.
Those are the berserkers (the way they appear in AoM and AoE 4)…
Well, that’s not a bad idea…it would allow them to expand faster without needing to deposit resources in camps. Like, if they cut wood and the nearest lumber camp is far away, they deposit it in their houses (in AoE 4 we haven’t seen resource depots yet either) (with the Atlanteans in AoM and in AoE 3 they don’t exist at all and it’s like a constant trickle of resources)…
Guess what, they replaced the screenshot with the alleged Danes Wonder and the blue player’s Indian architecture. The buildings use the new architecture now, and there is no longer a proper description, only “Screenshot #4”.
However, it’s also awfully blurry.
Chronicles in general is very beneficial for campaign design because they add tons of eye candy every time that is used in the next main DLC campaigns.
They fixed the screenshot’s blurriness. What’s interesting is that they also reinstated the previous description, including the “Danes Wonder” part. Could it be…?
