Does that mean Barracks are always needed on land maps for new civs?
Maybe settlements in dark age act like how castles do for clicking imp.
Wont this be a similar situation to the mule cart?
A lot of questions around the settlements.
I think they will probably be way more expensive than common camps, maybe cost even 200 W (though I think 150 is probably more likely)
And then ofc it’s the question if you only need 1 settlement, 2 settlements (which I think will be most likely) or a settlement + barracks to click up.
it’s somewhat similar, but with a different outcome. the normal build order includes a mill and lumber camp, so armenians/georgians with mill and mule cart aren’t really different.
For the south american civs this becomes “settlement” and “settlement”, so they will still be missing a building.
Maybe they will change the requirements for those civs : 2 buildings → 2 Settlements
I think they will have to be very close to lumber camp cost
We saw with the mule cart that more expensive drop sites are a mess to work with
could also be, but then i see a huge risk that mapuche will be absolutely OP with their early rushing potential
100 W settlements that can train empowered trash units AND 150 extra food from berries… that’s the recipe for total domination on all maps where you want to feudal rush.
I think it will be 120/125 wood at launch
But Mapuche seem really messy to balance, yes.
I have a gut feeling it won’t be bigger than 125 wood.
As long as Incas keep current 2x pop house.
this would suck on water maps where you usually build 1 lumber camp, 1 dock
The problem comes most condemfully when you cant capitalize on 2 resources at once. You then might inch your drop-site that much further from the wood to get more gold or vice versa and for what a supposed 80ish wood saving you won’t even get to take full advantage of because of non perfect gather/travel distances
The building also feels like it could beling to non American civs who did some level of migration. I dont recall sourh American civs being super nomadic
No problem. You build 1 settlement and 1 Dock.
the settlement also counts as a house. we should see how much it costs, my guess is it will be 125 wood. in which case it will always be better or equally good as a lumbercamp/miningcamp/mill
that works if the requirement is 2 buildings. it doesn’t work if the requirement is 2 settlements.
I mean other building will count as well but if you build 2 Settlements then they will be counted separately too.
yeah, i think that could work. imo it’s the only sensible way of dealing with settlements. there just aren’t enough dark age buildings for this to work otherwise.
