Historical knowledge and game studying.

You’re mixing the meaning of historical Condot-whateverwritingyouwant and the unit ingame.

Historically they were Italian elite band, mercenaries, at a period where gunpowder ruled, and many warefare technology made them kind of spadassin elite mid-heavy armoured soldiers using some very specific blade types of that era. The shield design is inspired by shields of that era, as is the armor.

As they were payed merceanry and not levied soldiers, they had money to purchase the best equipements for their task. This is the detail that makes them not candidate for a Shock-Infantry type. Shock-Infantry in the game represent some not too expensive equipement, meant to do shock raids not long sustainable fights. Condo cost / stats are not matching that too.

For the agility, it’s a balance choice there, see no historical reason for their movement speed cause it’s not relevant for the damn amount of metal they’re wearing. It’s just balance purpose.

Shock-Infantry is the new name of what was the Eagle type armor, so the new Shock-Infantries stick to the original logic of what an Eagle armor was. It’s not defining a behavior, it’s an Armor-Class, for some unit to be countered by some others on a balance level.

Condos got a specific armor class, which may probably someday be extended to other similar purpose units. Otherwise they would already have been given the Shock-Infantry armor class type, but it’s not their balance purpose so far.

And as the DLC is viking themed, why would a big change on Italian occur ? I mean, why only to condos ? If condos got such a change, then it’s not “condos going shock infantry” but a way larger infantry overhall and we already had some recently. However nothing stops them to do so but I doubt it would happen, like the persian architecture swap, it’s not because some people wish it that it will happen. It will only if there is a game design legimity for it to happens. (keep in mind it’s not a realist game)
