Perhaps they’ll include the Persians from the base game as Sasanids and have them use the Savar (not as a paladin upgrade but as a shock cavalry upgrade) and the war elephant (since the Achaemenids don’t have elephants)…
They’d also need to get two UTs for each age, and Chronicles balance is different, so i’m not sure on that tbh
Depends on whether all opponents in a campaign are to be playable. Thracians and Puru only got a scenario each, and peoples like Scythians and Sogdians didn’t get a civ at all, just a rename in scenario editor.
If the campaign’s plot doesn’t involve playing as Sassanids, they probably won’t get a new civ, and it doesn’t really matter if the opponent in singleplayer has one or two UTs let age.
Thank you for your excellent suggestions, sir. However, I believe that only one of the three unknown apps will be DLC as if now.
I mean I think all 3 are DLC, but only one is probably Chronicles. My outline was just general for how I think Chronicles should go, not saying that they should put all of that out right now and that all of the unknown apps are Chronicles. I’d bet 2 are base game DLC in varying stages of production, and the third is a Chronicles DLC.
If they add Goths and Sassanids a second time when they could add Palmyrans and Alemans meh… Alemans are kinda underrated, they went so close to sack Rome 150 years before the Goths and they defeated a certain Aurelian in battle. He built the famous walls around Rome after he could barely save it. Otherwise Alemans can just be represented by a generic pre migration Germanic civ though I think they’re the only one deserving to be split (also cause the others are already here: Franks, Burgundians, Saxons, Goths… only Vandals and Lombards are the big ones missing but they should be added in the main game). Furthermore to make 2 more UTs for Persians and Goths (campaign only) would be very easy.
looking forward to the Celts split, finally a campaign for Ireland,
Interesting. Any more information on this?
Not too much.
The development boss mentioned in an interview with the viper, that there are 2 civs that are too simplistic. The Vikings and the saracens.
Now we got a Viking DLC so there is a higher chance to also get a saracens DLC
It makes sense, since Age of Kings, not counting the Celts (who received their infantry speed buff in BfG, and the Britons and Franks will now receive mounted crossbowmen), the Saracens were never touched too much, or at least not that I remember in DE (even though they gave them Bimaristan in TMR)…
What if one of the unknown file is Return of Rome DLC planned for 30 year anniversary of Age Franchise in 2027?
I could imagine that they add the last missing campaigns.
But no dlc… Because nobody would buy it.
Yes, it’s possible… that they port them to the mode and bring new achievements (it would be all the Rise of Rome campaigns in Italy and Central Europe, North Africa or the Middle East - Enemies of Rome - and Gaul - basically Caesar) (I doubt Yamato because it’s in East Asia, but we could see the Hittite campaign in Turkey)… another option would be a new DLC for Return of Rome (very unlikely with campaigns for Shang, Choson and Lac Viet and then include Yamato alongside them) and a 30th anniversary pack selling the entire saga until 2027 (although I see that happening in October 2027)…
Thanks for response. Yes, I remember watching this as well. Vikings, Saracens, and I would add Celts, Italians, Teutons, Slavs. A Saracen split dlc would be much welcome. I would personally like to see something aligned with my proposal of either splitting Saracens into, or simply just adding, 3 new historically focused civs - Egyptians, Arabs/Arabians, Mashriqis. These 3, and in particular Egyptians and Mashriqis, inherit most of the current Saracen features. Beyond this, for an Iberian / Western Mediterranean DLC I want to see the Andalusians, along with a rework of Berbers into Maghrebis.
“Simple” in the sense of superficial, or how was that meant?
I don’t remember the exact word but what he ment was that they should not have been just one civ. He answered this on the question from the viper, if the Norwegians would have a chance to become a civ.
So saracens were not even asked for but he mentioned it in the same answer.
The video is somewhere on YouTube
Ah, okay. Thanks for the reply.
It depends what you consider “too much” – since DE was released they’ve had both of their unique techs replaced completely. Obviously they weren’t changed as significantly as Chinese or Persians, but I think they might be the third most changed AoK civs in DE. (Although I’m probably forgetting something…)
Literally none of the UTs the civ has now are the same as they were in 2014
The Cav archer raiding bonus is lost as well.
We can circle back to this statement in a few weeks when half the roster has mini crossbows on horseback but for now I agree and Vikings might sadly become 4th place
Coincidentally, the other day Hera published a video about the Varangians’ deep dive. When he reached the section about the Wonder he noted how the ship burial mound was described by Ibn Fadlan in the 10th century CE. Then he said “maybe the next DLC will be an Arabic DLC.”
