Two empty "unknown app" DLCs at SteamDB: the next 2026 DLCs?

[quote=“PersiasRerising, post:47, topic:290194”]

Just had a thought.

The Songhai, kanemburu and hausa would be the most relevant for a DLC because they had massive empires in terms of area and are connected historically for a campaign.

BUT!

They do fit the current architecture perfectly. I also don’t think they would make a new architecture just for the Ethiopians and not use it in the new campaign. That’s why I think we won’t get the Sahel empires but (if we stay in Africa) the East or the South.

If we get the East, it could expand to South Arabia. Yemen, Oman, Somalia And Swahili (Zanzibar). Have connected history and very special architecture. Not sure if Ethiopians would also receive it, because this would leave Mailand with a unique architecture.

South and tropical Africa would be completely independent of exis civs.

We could have a wide area covering architecture (Zimbabwe, Kongo, Swahili) like with the South American architecture or a tropical focus (Kongo, Benin, ingbo, oyo).

If we are talking west African civs then I have grown fond of the Mossi

The Raiders of the Sahel. Would round things out well.

From a marketing standpoint, the most important thing is that each expansion should not include too many civs that are part of modern Nigeria.

Release Hausa now, then one of the Yorubite peoples later. Then a 3rd at another point and so on. There are a lot of people in that country is all I’m saying

Pasture can easily become a regional building for Cumans, Huns, Mongols, Khitans and Tatars.

It was made by a fan (Tzontlimixtli) as a mod and then incorporated to the game.

The same thing that happened to Idle Villager pointer, small trees, range indicator of buildings.

Possibly for Celts with a sheep variant design since they seemed to do more sheep rearing than crops if the stereo type holds True

Couple of updates on Viking Sagas steamdb app recently, with also 3K update 4 days ago, probably fixes for the October patch.

Nothing new about the unkown app nor about the enhanced graphic pack / icon pack.

And the devs saw wisdom in adopting/remaking it.

But thanks for reminding me, Italians also had their own set. And originally, the Slavs were intended to also have just a single civ set, before Magyars were added to it.

Man, The Forgotten had some serious dedication back in the day, bringing to life so much community work ranging from architecture, civs, unique units, unique technologies, etc. and then balancing and slightly redesigning it so it all fits together, and even expanding on it with campaigns. And now they sell a scenario pack DLC that was almost nothing but mod content.

Many of the author works are in the official game, Portuguese campaign for example. VnV is not just copy pasted mod content, it’s officialized mod content, such it was with the mod Forgotten Empire that became The Forgotten DLC.

VnV received updates that the og mods probably did not, and the voicing too, and translations in other languages including audios too. That’s a lot of content.

Still today.

Which is still how they tend to do, see the naval rework, originated from Rome ad Bellum naval style.

The Medi set also is a fan-made, I mean forgotten used it from the start for the Italian but I don’t know who made it first. I remember Age of Chivalry at that time… Now I’m feeling old…

Yes, they will probably do it one day with some nomadic architecture for those civs…

Well, it makes sense… The Forgotten started as a mod and was also the first expansion for AoE 2 in 13 years…it’s normal that it brought so much because they didn’t know if they would have the opportunity to make new expansions later…then in 2015 TAK (like what happened later with TAR in 3DE in 2021) brought an entire continent and RotR brought Southeast Asia (I hope they do the same with 3DE in 2028 after the Middle East DLC)…

The Mediterranean set already existed in the original game, where it was shared by Byzantines, Italians (later on), Spanish and other civilizations depending on the game version.

All roads lead to rome mod then other mods adopted and chnaged the buildings to fit better for their mods.

Byzantine had orie set, Spanish had western europe, and Italian were not in the base game they were added with The Forgotten dlc.

Now make Nomadic architecture set official. I saw one in HD that won’t work on DE. And I think I also saw 3 more in DE.

They (Forgotten Empires) probably adapted from the original Rome at War mod, from the Wildfire Games group:

Me too…
Rome at War predates it 11

True, the Mediterranean set was probably influenced by the Italian and Portuguese mod prior to HD (and in turn by the Mediterranean set from AoE 3)…

Yes, you have many buildings like yurts and cabins that could work for a nomadic set…

It’s curious and ironic, considering that Wildfire Games later created 0AD based on the Rome at War mod… if they had taken over the series instead of Forgotten Empires, then 0AD would be AoE 4 and Millennium AD mod AoE 5…

Oh damn I remember that mod name !

So much nostalgia ahaha.

And I saw one in AoE4 as official part of the game.

Truely ? It’s that old ? I remember when the author started to work on 0.A.D. but I don’t remember Rome ad Bellum existing at that time. Chivalry is a thing I used to download back in the Forgotten dlc era, probably one of the first mod I’ve used with the forgotten itself so … Predating the HD version.

They received the medi set, the medi set is older than the forgotten dlc, it’s one of the very old mod for the game, All Roads leads to Rome as some others pointed. It got then incorporated into the forgotten mod pack, which later became the first dlc of the HD edition introducing the medi set, for portuguese and italian. Byzantine received it later, can’t say when, but I know it used the ORIE set for years.
