I think unit counters could be improved, certain types just perform so much better.
Archers can beat almost everything, and certain myth units tank a lot of hero damage.
In my case: Upgraded infantry and cav (Norse here) losing to Hades: cyclops and archers.
Cyclops tank A LOT of hero dmg.
Did I miss a recent nerf to Hersir/godi dmg? And a massive buff to cyclops`?
In general, do you think counters perform well enough?
I might be wrong but I feel like old AoM didn’t have such hard counters, only soft counters (except for myth and hero units). Some people say this created a better experience over all. but the truth is hard counters in AoM seem like to be working fine (balance wise) I don’t think they need their bonuses tweaked.
You know I might be completely wrong here. I don’t play much, I only play Norse and team games.
From my experience hirdmen are decent enough against cavalry. I only struggle against archer balls as Norse.
You are very correct, hirdman are a good unit vs calv. Theres also the thing that 3/4 norse gods have access to freya with faster an stronger calv than other civs.
The hirdmen performs decent at best vs cav, the other way round he is easily countered, rendering hirdman a “stand here and fend off some cav at best” unit which loses in a bigger engagement, making cav the absolute go to since archers/axemen simply delete hirdmen. I see a major balance issue especially vs poseidon who can always rely on super fast raiding hippeus.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying I like this system. All I’m saying is hirdmen are designed to kill cavalry only. And they are good at it.
Archers are supposed to kill infantry and they are good at it.
