Unplayable due to connection issues. Common to other users too

Issue:

Reddit confirmed issues: AOE4 Connection Issues : r/aoe4 started as of a few days ago.
I open the game, it seems connected. I start searching for a game and at some point it just disconnects me. An error message sometime pops up briefly. Then the game crashes. Other users have been experiencing this. It only started happening in the last few days. See this reddit:

Trigger Event: Being online / searching for games

(what was happening at the time of the issue. this could be an action you or another player took right before the issue started)

Repro Steps: Be online, wait. Or be online and search for a game. Happens every time for me. Despite internet connection being great.

Yup happening to me as well. Tried restarting, verifying game files, flushing DNS, deleting all in game mods, updating graphics drivers etc. I was able to play games a few days ago fine and that was after the most recent patch so not sure what they did since then to mess this up. Game loses connection and exits to desktop after around 4 minutes of being open no matter what, whether I am in menus, game or replay.

It’s happening to me too! I lost like 15 ranked 1v1 games because of this, nothing I have tried has helped at all!

Yep, exact same problem happening to me and others. Joined the chorus on Steam, falling on deaf ears. I sent a detailed bug report to AoE Support and got brushed off as expected. Don’t expect a fix any time soon. I don’t know how they expect us to buy their DLC when we literally can’t play.

It got solved! Check the aoe4 discord tech support channel. You have to run the game disabling the ability to run it with admin permissions
