Unusual/Missing Unit Tags for Controller/Hotkey Selection

Issue: Several units have odd/problematic or missing Tags for Hotkey/Controller Selection.

  • Imperial Official (Zhu Xi Legacy):
    • Does not count as a Support Unit. Cannot be selected at all via controller radial menus or shortcuts.
      • Suggested Solution: It should count as a Support Unit as the Imperial Official for the Chinese Civ currently does.
  • Elephant Worker (Tughlaq Dynasty):
    • Counts as a Calvary Unit.
    • Does not count as a Support Unit.
      • Suggested Solution:
        • It should be Removed as a Calvary Unit. Currently this creates a huge issue with selecting all cav mid fight and suddenly your drop points run into battle across the map.
        • It should be Added as a Support Unit.
  • Amir Warriors (Tughlaq Dynasty)
    • Does not count as a Military Unit. (Cannot be selected with the select all military units hotkey or controller shortcut)
      • Suggested Solution: It should be included in the select all military units hotkey/controller shortcut.
  • Yatai (Sengoku Daimyo)
    • Does not seem to have any classifications at all and can only be manually selected.
      • Suggested Solution: It should be considered a Support Unit. This would seperate it from the Trader units it produces to make sure the Yatai would not be grabbed when trying to select/direct Traders.

Trigger Event: Pressing various shortcut hotkeys or controller quick selects depending on the unit.

This was recompiled with additional unit examples at the request of “It’s Evo” on the official discord.

Still Present in Patch 15.1.7149

  • Imperial Official (Zhu Xi Legacy): Still not counted as Support or any other selectable type with a controller. Requires full manual selection. Chinese Imperial Official is selectable as a Support unit so this is very inconsistent and problematic for controller players. (Not Tracked)
  • Elephant Worker (Tughlaq Dynasty): Still counted as a Calvary (Tracked). Still not counted as Support or any other non calvary selectable type with a controller. (Not Tracked)
  • Amir Warriors (Tughlaq Dynasty): Still cannot be selected by cycling to Military Units (Pressing Left on Dpad) or selectable with All Military (Holding Left on Dpad) (Not Tracked)
  • Yatai (Sengoku Daimyo): Still not counted as Support or any other selectable type with a controller. Requires full manual selection. (Not Tracked)

Changes from Last Patch

  • Elephant Workers (Tughlaq Dynasty): Counting as Calvary is now marked as Tracked.

Great to hear! I believe these changes are all very valuable for all the new controller players who joined with PS5 and the Xbox players of old.

I still intend to update this post each patch to keep visibility if you don’t mind. Hopefully I won’t have to for much longer though. Haha.

Manual Selection Required

  • Elephant Worker (Tughlaq Dynasty): Still not counted as Support or any other selectable type with a controller. Requires full manual selection.

Comment: I can see why these types of units may be undesirable to be Support units as they tend to sit stationary most of the time unless under attack but ultimately I believe both of these would benefit from having a means of quick selecting them in some separated form or fashion.

Possible Solution: Can these be given a icon/selection on the quick find wheel (for controllers) similar to how Shinobi are?

Not Counted as Military

  • Amir Warriors (Tughlaq Dynasty): Still cannot be selected by cycling to Military Units (Pressing Left on Dpad) or selectable with All Military (Holding Left on Dpad)

Comment: Oddly enough these units can be selected by using the “Land Military Units” option in the quick Find Menu on controllers.

[New Addition to the Ticket] Not included in Land Military Units (Quick Find Menu for controllers only)

  • Militia (Rus): Cannot be selected by using the “Land Military Units” option in the Quick Find Menu on controllers.

Comment: The complete opposite of the Amir Warriors. These can be selected normally with Left on the Dpad (pressing or holding) but do not get selected using the "“Land Military Units” option in the Quick Find Menu on controllers.

-Changes from Last Patch-

  • Imperial Official (Zhu Xi Legacy): Now correctly is counted as a Support Unit like its Chinese Counterpart. Fixed! Thank you!

  • Elephant Worker (Tughlaq Dynasty): No longer counts as Calvary. Fixed! Thank you!
