They already did. Didn’t you notice how Gbetomon evolved into Dora Milajemon?
It is just weird that they picked 3K out of so many possible options. I am pretty sure they did listen and literally picked the worst. (Or actually nobody had proposed 3K before the DLC?)
Huns would like a word with you…
Huns survived long into the medieval era.
How are shu wu and wei not covered under chinese?we might have celts irish scots welsh by that logic.
define “Huns survived long into the medieval era”…
No, we all know the real problem with 3K and the Huns : we were kids when the Huns released, so we didn’t care. We were adults happy to jump on the next artificial controversy when 3K released
A quick google search into hephthalites would clear this.
Ok, do it and come back to tell us all…
Before I do that you can define how shu wu and wei are not chinese and medieval.
The real problem with 3K is that they don’t belong in aoe2 and Huns, for the historically literate, demonstrate why.
You have a point I think since Romans have the same issue but Huns are a bit less adversed.
But even if you want to be strict with the 476 thing, you can find Huns living after that that. And I’m not talking of Hepthalithes or Iranian Huns, just “European” Huns.
I guess you could consider those 6th century tribes between Attila and old great Bulgaria either Huns or Bulgars, I mean onogurs and co. Avars too, since the Huns castle looks pretty much inspired by the ring fortress of the khagan, the capital of Attila should have looked pretty similar.
Huns are fine. Romans…feel like the devs tried to concoct an edge case for some perverse aoe2 bar exam question.
For me, even tho it’s the most qualitative of attributes, I give Romans the pass because of intent. The reason we have romans is because aoe1 was being ported into aoe2, and the devs thought it’d be nice to have something for the aoe2 crowd, and when some in the community asked for them to come to ranked, or otherwise there’d be nothing for the MP crowd, the devs acquiesced.
Was it the right decision??? IDK, again romans feel like this super hard edge case. But it was done to try to make the community happy. to make the best of a weird situation. And that goes a long way in my book.
Romans were unnecessary maybe until it was Attila only but since the game seems to have gone back a bit with Alaric and that Xie an scenario… Also you have Gaiseric, Vortigern… It was starting to feel like why not at this point? Who am I fighting in these scenarios? Byzantines are more oriented to the high middle ages anyway and Italians/Spanish or whatever romance people they used as replacements of course were silly (they still haven’t changed that in Tariq
). And, as with Huns, you can rationalise Romans existing, even semi independently in some areas, way after 476 if you want to.
What would a separate Avar civ mean for the Hunnic timeline?
If the 3k faction can be added, what’s stopping the addition of Cornwall or Manchester into the game?
Make a new DLC called Baron’s Alliances, add Cornwall, Manchester, and Glassgow, and give Britons trainable hero, King Arthur with aura that increases infantry move speed by banging coconuts together. This is how I see the 3k dlc.
Or perhaps Huns are actually a group of people, and not a political faction that is exactly the same as another civ in the game?
Artificial? What part of this do you think is “artificial”?
The 3 kingdoms should’ve been included in the Chronicles game mode and with that, we would’ve got to see an East Asian building set in the Chronicles that resembles the one from AoE1. Putting in anachronistic civs in the main AoE2 component was such a blasphemous decision because it desecrated the setting theme that AoE2 is supposed to be.
I literally have not played AOE 2 since. They trojan horsed a live service game into my life. I don’t trust these devs now
Since its release I only played the OG AOE2 once to have some nostalgia with a custom campaign I’ve played and suffered a lot back then when was young.
The Three Kingdoms destroyed all my joy in playing AOE2DE.
Sadly, for me too. (20 characters)
3K hasn’t prevented me playing. Rather, the fact that my keyboard has an “A” key missing (which can still be pressed with a lot more effort) is the main limiting factor. I really need to get that fixed…
