Victors and Vanquished Family Share Feature Not Working

Game Build: 13720908
Platform: Steam
Operating System: Windows 11

I always family share the Age of Empires II DLCs from an old account that has the base game. That way I have all my stuff in one place and can continue enjoying it on my new account that does not own the game.

For Victors and Vanquished, I pre-ordered a few weeks ago, yet when the DLC released yesterday I was unable to access it. All other DLCs are working fine still.

I have tried a variety of fixes including: Disabling and re-enabling Family Share, deleting and re-installing the game, setting all DLC to private and then removing this designation. The account doing the sharing is able to access the DLC campaigns so this is not the same issue as the install problem people reported at launch.

The DLC store page indicates it is compatible with family sharing so I do not think this was an intended feature for the new release.

Hi @VersusNA
Do you still have this issue?

Unfortunately I am still having this issue.

I wrote to Steam support a couple days ago and they replied:

"Thanks for writing in to report this issue.

We are aware of the problem and are investigating the issue further."

I have yet to hear back.

This has been resolved in a frankly unbelievable way.

After 5 days of not being able to use family sharing for the DLC, I decided to apply for a refund so that I could buy the DLC again when it goes on sale at a later date, hoping that would fix the issue.

Instead, after about 2 hours the DLC actually began working as intended with family share. Steam support has not been in contact with me and I haven’t heard from anyone on the Age of Empires side, so I have no idea if I just got really lucky and someone coincidentally fixed it in time, or if applying for the refund somehow knocked something loose and fixed it.

Either way, of course I cancelled the refund and now all is well!
