Maybe you could try the mod scenarios and see for yourself. I supposethe best way to know if you like something is trying it and in this case, you have the option to do it
I have not played it, but from other people say, it’s not worth your time.
It is essentially cut-and-paste from the free scenarios on the Mod Center, and has no new assets. That’s right, all assets in the DLC are reused from other sources, despite no longer being a mere mod.
It also contains practically all bugs from the mod versions, and no major issues have been fixed.
Basically, MS is just charging money for something that’s free, with no real improvement aside from voice acting, and even that is mediocre and lifeless, from what I hear.
I played 16 scenarios out of 19 (I didn’t played the 2 japanese and Drake). I think it is worth it, especially during steam sales, even though it feels like a drop in quality compared to previous DLC.
The problems are gameplay related: the civs are sometimes heavily modified, there is sometimes only one way to play to win (Gaiseric…), some scenarios are really dragging (the Vikings scenarios are really disappointing IMO), there is sometimes a lack of polish (in the information given to the player), it can be crushingly hard (Robert), or it is sometimes badly implemented (Fighting the Franks in Otto).
BUT
Most of scenarios are enjoyable. There is a lot of content for the money. Some situations are interesting (The siege of Constantinople with both points of view), and some scenarios are really fun and historically grounded, as well as giving civs some love (Komnenos, Mstislav, Seldjuk).
@DaftPlains72242 I remember your post, liked it, and I just double checked the code of conduct, and can’t for the life of me figure out what it would have violated. I hope your post is eventually restored.
Before they add ONE SINGLE new model for the scenario-specific heroes/units, or cutscene images, or spend minimal efforts in making the selection menu a little better-looking (I have to look at that abomination even without buying the DLC), I’ll continue to label it as cash grab.
