that villager should not be fighting back when boar pulling, clicking on tree/gold/stone while retreating and should keep running instead. unsure of how many feel that this is the case and consider it a bug, normally minority is loud so its hard to say just how many feel this way.
changing this would affect competitive play as well. although it maybe nice not to have to worry about misclicks when pulling boar, it may not be the same for builders trying to wall and not fight back against predators.
I don’t remember experiencing such a bug. What did happen to me was my villagers automatically fighting back against dark age scouting units despite this being supposedely no longer possible.
