ISSUE EXPERIENCED
I’ve been watching TCI and there were two games where Vinchester’s vills were able to jump over a wall and garrison into a tower.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_g7n-K0Cv1Q (Game against Viper)
Twitch (time stamp 1:16:00 game against Yo)
I was able to replicate this in the scenario editor on my pc.
I was able to replicate with palisade walls and stone walls (one of the games was hideout and the other arena so I thought it prudent to check both). I was able to replicate with watch towers and guard towers (though both games had only watch tower).
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE REST!
Vills stop jumping when I put like 5 watch towers in row and tried to garrison into one of them. It also stops working when i try tasking a lot of vills to garrison. It’s very qualitative but as far as I can tell if the pathing is sufficiently bad then vills can no longer jump walls. One vill I have no problem with.
If I had to guess there is a radius around the tower that is acceptably close to garrison into, that radius extends just onto the other side of a wall such that if a vill has a clear path they can jump over, but if they’re bumping into their fellow vills too much neither can line up just right so neither can jump???
Assuming vills aren’t bumping into each other it’s basically 100%. If you have a bunch of vills bumping into each other, or you’re trying to garrison into one of like 5 watch towers in a row, it’s 0% as far as I can tell.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
- Have a (preferably) single vill on one side of a wall
- Task that vill to garrison into a (preferably) lone tower touching the wall but on the other side of the wall
- Watch them walk up to the wall then teleport through the wall into the tower.
In one game Viper was Turks, and the other Vinchester was turks. I initially I thought that turks might somehow be important but I was able to replicate with myself and player 2 as Spanish and Romans respectively (just two random civs i selected randomly).
In both situations there was a partially built house that was blocking an otherwise valid route. I thought that might be important, like the half built house was tricking the game into thinking there was a valid path, but I was able to replicate w/o that foundation. Regardless of if there is a valid path or not to the tower doesn’t seem to be a determining factor.
EXPECTED RESULT
What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?
Villagers shouldn’t be able to teleport through a wall to garrison.
