Villagers will not kill wolves

As stated. Even if they’re not doing anything. If they are attacked by a wolf, they just carry on doing what they do. The wolf sound is not “scary”, it just reminds you that the AI is broken :frowning:

Villagers don’t attack wolves automatically. You have to tell them to.

Yes, but…

If you were attacked by a wolf, would you not defend yourself?
If any living thing is threatened on it’s life, that living thing, person or creature, would defend itself to survive.

The villagers simply stand around until they die, when attacked by a wolf.
I’m sorry, but this is incorrect behaviour.
I can sort of understand it if they are attacked by a soldier (in game logic) - but they should defend themselves against wild animals, and they used to in the old games.

Anything else… doesn’t make sense at all.

Would you stand there and keep building a building while people shoot arrows at you?

This is a game, you need to tell the units what to do.

I will see your gamers logic, and raise with this: Yes, micromanagement is intentionally at play, but the villagers do not need to be less intelligent than a brick wall. It doesnt sound like we are going to reach a meaningful conclusion here.

I still think villagers should fight back against wild animals. I wouldn’t mind of they fought back against invading enemies, but that is more debatable in my book.

Well, both reactions are in AOE2 (villager fight back against wild animal and run away when get shot by arrow).

Question would be: would AOE4 implement same as AOE2 or not?

Well wolves would be zero threat of villagers attack them automatically. A single villager beats a wolf even without uogrades.

In AoE2 at least one villager loses to one wolf.

They definitely shouldn’t change building villagers here to stop building when under fire at this point. I think that would upset a lot of people.

- Maybe they could make villagers defend themselves if they are attacked by wild animals, BUT increase the number of roaming animals. That would be a better solution to me.

- No they shouldn’t, I agree with that.

this really shouldn’t be an issue, in older games the villagers do act in self defense if attacked by wildlife (or treasure guardians in aoe3), pretty clear undeniable regression, then again, units firing on vills not interupting the construction has its pluses, just not as many imo
