Some maps should be either just redesigned or removed altogether. I can’t blame people for ALT+F4 ing certain maps at all

Yes, because lower ELO people don’t exist and don’t matter even if they do. /s You do know that at some point, everyone was low ELO? A game should try to retain lower elo people, so that some of them may have a chance to grow. Unless you too enjoy playing the same 5 people over and over every day

I’m not saying that you are at a low ELO. I’m saying that if a game doesn’t appeal to new people, it’ll mean we will never get new high elo people into the pool and the community will stagnate and dry up. Some maps are just much harder on low ELO because they don’t have specific skills that would prevent certain common strategies from working.
Anyone else think there needs to be some tweaking in the MegaRandom scripting? MR map generation was actually fun in HD but the map generation in DE is so plain and boring. Surely I can’t be the only one who has observed this. It sucks!

But low Elo people are playing other low Elo people, so that should balance out. Every game is equally hard: You will have roughly 50% chance to win.
You can get to 1500 elo with 0 game knowledge. Just learn a few tricks and you are there.
That what you wrote is not necessarily true on all skill levels. You can find a player who is 1500 in Arabia, but more like 1200 on any other map. (and just an example only, since ranked is a mash of different map types, the elo is really not too meaningful on low levels)
This means that depsite having the same elo (and a theoretical win rate of 50%), you’ll probably just get crushed by some cheese strat that is allowed by bad design.
Okay, I agree with that. But players will still have an overall winrate that is around 50%, whether the map pool has some unconventional maps or not, and so the game isn’t made ‘harder’ by the unconventional maps.
