:backhand_index_pointing_down: DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

According to path notes of update 185872, it is “now possible to use bare .wav files to add/replace sounds in mods.” However, when attempting to use bare .wav files to replace sounds in mods, the sounds are muted just like before. .wem files still work for modding.

:backhand_index_pointing_down: List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Make a sound mod using a bare .wav file.

  2. Test the mod and see that the sound has disappeared instead of changed correctly.

  3. Convert the .wav file to .wem

  4. Test the mod and see that it works with .wem still

If bare .wav files were promised to work, bare .wav files should work.

Hi, I am unable to reproduce the issue. Did you make sure to restart the game / refresh local mods between attempts? Also, please keep in mind that only formatTag 1 (uncompressed PCM) is supported with this. You cannot use any other non-Wwise formats.

This test mod is working without issues on my end.

After must testing, I figured out it has to be 16-bit PCM, otherwise (eg. with 32-bit PCM) it won’t work.

Edit: ok 32-bit PCM works as well, but (unsigned) 8-bit PCM doesn’t

Ok, so the button_select updates correctly, but unit sounds (the ones I tried are scoutm, scoutm1, scoutm3) do not - but it is the same exact identical file only renamed. I did restart game before testing.

I did confirm that scoutm, scoutm1, scoutm3 work correctly to mod using .wem so we can rule out that name or directory are incorrect

Thanks, I will forward this for investigation. I suspect it might have to do with the fact that in-game (unit) sounds use preloading/caching whereas UI sounds don’t.
