What about not adding more Euro civs from now on for a long time?

Was that sarcasm or did you not proof read your comment? Where did I say I wanted support to end? I’m pretty sure me saying them milking other regions that aren’t Europe would be a good thing isn’t me making a statement of wanting support to end.

You must’ve misunderstood my comment. I was saying that if Europe is milked dry, then just about any other region will also be milked dry soon afterward, because there is less potential for civs in those regions.

Oh wait you’re serious? Let me laugh even harder.

Most of the major non-European powers that would belong in AoE2 are already in the game. You could get maybe two or three expansions-worth before you would run out.

That’s a good joke, You’re funny.

was it? cant really tell. what I addressed is gonna become the norm though. in terms of come back, aoe2 is still similar to starcraft in that regard (not sure about sc2), but dota/league and most fighting games are all made come back easy for viewership reasons. the snow ball advantage instantly taken away sucked.

All right, then. Name me 30 non-European powers that fit in the timeline of AoE2, interacted with current AoE2 civs, don’t overlap with current civs, engaged in wars against at least five other kingdoms or empires that aren’t internal, and subjugated other kingdoms.

If you can’t name at least 30, then there is no long-term value in focusing exclusively on areas outside of Europe.

But can you name 30 from Europe?

Probably, if I rack my brain enough and do research. I’ve probably come up with at least 10 European civs on my own already.

You want me to waste how many hours going on Wikipedia to find 30 civilizations? You know currently there exists 195 countries today so just imagine the countries that existed within the timeframe of aoe2. I can name a few like Zapotecs, the japanese clans which had their own thing going depending on how powerful they were, a bunch of African empires. This is such a reddit tier demand.

I’m always wary of these types of threads. It can very easily go to extremes (anti-Europe and anti-non-Europe) and end up in insults and name-calling.

Well, I should have you know that I came up with at least 12 unique (i.e. not already in the game) European or pseudo-European civilizations all on my own. I could probably come up with 18 more if I really tried.

Some people here really should read J.M.Blaut’s “The Colonizer’s Model of the World: Geographical Diffusionism and Eurocentric History” and “Eight Eurocentric Historians” as well as “Born in Blackness” by Howard.W.French.

Europeans are no “Übermensch” and every narrative who wants you to make you to think that just wants you to forget that cattle slavery is the foundation of the wealth of the Western world.

I don’t want to argue with people, but I’m sick of everyone saying that Europe is overstuffed and that the devs should focus exclusively on other regions of the world. I like other regions of the world too, but there are parts of Europe that aren’t represented and really should be.

Literally every culture had chattel slavery at some point, so this isn’t the own you think it is.

Honestly, which ones? The only ones which would even make remotely sense (Southeastern Europe) has already Magyars, Bulgarians, Turks, Italians, Teutons and Byzantines.

Well, if we consider the Caucasus part of Europe, then it’s almost entirely unrepresented. The Balkan region is also pretty empty, aside from the Bulgarians and Byzantines.

Read “Born in Blackness” and then come back. You will learn a lot, I promise.

I don’t doubt your claims, but chattel slavery was not unique to Europeans. It occurred all around the world, and still happens today. People like to single out Europe as unique for engaging in chattel slavery, but ignore not only the origins of it, but where it’s continuing to this day.
