You know how up to castle castle its a pain to see most of your shots go to Narnia because you don’t have ballistics?
I think it would be reasonable to give archers and skirms a ability to target the ground to let players flex some their micro and path predicting.
Sure, its a buff for a unit that doesn’t really need any but with infantry no longer being hopelessly weak and this being a skill based change it doesn’t seem liable to break anything.
To flesh it out a bit:
Attack ground:
Unit fires at cursor location dealing damage in a small area with reduced damage.
Damage area: 0.2 tiles
Damage modifier: x 0.8
So an archer ball fires a the are, ignoring accuracy, and units that get hit by projectiles take 80% damage from each one they get hit by.
Bonus: hand cannons
Volley fire:
Selected units fire in cursor direction with reduced damage.
Doesn’t aim specifically at the cursor like the last example, just check the direction and fires a wall of bullets.
Damage reduction: -25%
Projectile damage: 100%
Ex. Handcannons deals 17 on hit, 8.5 if a missed shot hits anything by chance. Volley fire projectiles deal 12.75 to whatever they end up hitting.
