In the game, when I create a new TC, there is a circle range in the screen, what’s the meaning of it, and what is the best place of TownCenter?
The range of fire of the TC depending on the settings you have turned on.
The placement of a TC can change on what your plan is for that game. Generally they are best used as map control/ line of sight(LOS) and you would aim for a forward mine or large hunt(food).
If you plan on turtling and doing some kind of late/mid game timing push with or with out a revolt then its best to keep TCs close to each other.
Most new people struggle with building more TCs or even when to safely do so. A simple way to think about it is if your aiming to age up to 3 always ask your self as soon as you age “Can i build 2 more TCs safely?”. And the response SHOULD be “What did I see when i scouted?” What is the enemy doing? Do they have military units or military buildings? If NO then its safe to build them and try and boom harder then them.
Mind you most people I see just yolo the 2 TCs out in the middle of nowhere and hope for the best and it tends to work about 50% of the time lol. If you want to play it safe you could just stack them in base and build towers at a later time next to the resources that your looking to control.
This is why 1000wood crate(or something similar) is a must for MOST civs.
@Alanhdz90 Thank you for your detailed answer, which contains a lot of knowledge and is very helpful to me
Another tip is to use both an explorer and a settler to build the town centers.
The explorer builds them faster than 4 settlers, and the +1 settler will make sure it’s still being built if you have to move the explorer into fighting (Or if you move it by accident lol).
And as the guy above said, either be sneaky while building it, or make sure to have secured the location with a regiment.
Good luck.
The circle you see is the range of the TC attack.
On water maps you may want to use the TC to secure critical positions on the shoreline, such as a dock or a landing spot. TC attack ships without having a garrison.
