I would like to play with my family using Lan to avoid server latency. However, I’ve found that the lobby I created cannot be found on another machine no matter what I do.
My home network environment is as follows:
Optical fiber from the network operator → Optical modem (bridging) → Main router (OPWRT for dialing)
The main router branches out to many sub-routers, all of which also have OPWRT firmware, and the interfaces are configured as shown in the picture, essentially turning the router into a switch that can emit Wi-Fi. This means that all devices connected to the subnet are on the same network segment: 192.168.123.xxx
Alright, today my local game was searchable, but I don’t know why it became very laggy halfway through:
I, as the host, was particularly laggy, while my father could play normally.
Our home network is 2.5G, and my CPU is a 7950x; it shouldn’t be lagging just from hosting a local server, right?
As I played, I became so laggy that I couldn’t move, so I just spectated while my father played. In the second half of the game, the extremely difficult AI became as dumb as a rock.
After the game, I checked with CA and found that the time when I was extremely laggy coincided with the time when the AI was showing “no resource to building” (I think that’s what it said) and was still desperately retrying. Could it be that it couldn’t build anything due to lack of resources and was desperately requesting, causing me to lag? Then my lag made the AI even dumber, which led to more desperate requests, making my lag worse, until I couldn’t even operate.
