Hard pass on this, these skins are based on a different era.
Remake for the more outdated AoK civs. Particularly, Britons, Goths, Turks and Saracens.
Nah. Seems like South American. Even Ornlu joined the boat. 11
Not in the near future that’s for sure.
They already did with TMR.
Change the foot prithiviraj hero unit to the puru uu skin.not the most ideal thing to do but still better than a french xbow unit.
Ideally all the hero units which has a foot and mounted variation should look similar to eachother.
Why though? These are all classic civs, I think there would be major backlash if they said they were going to remake them (with the possible exception of a saracens split being accepted…maybe, still low chance, but not as low as the others)
These are too old for the timeline. Even for the Alaric campaign.
Pls, no. There are dozens of cultures and civs around the world besides duchies with different sausages
They did change persians and chinese.water rework also changes some of the navy’s ingame.
Because they, especially the ones listed are powercrept to heck and are middling despite recent buffs.
They’re too broad for any meaningful buffs, lest fixing one thing break another. A deeper redesign to add more focused strengths/weaknesses might be better in the long run.
Don’t forget Saracens and Koreans.
A new American or African DLC would be great. I also loved Capture Age’s work on creating a compelling storyline and would love to see more from them.
More stability in the game. Less bugs.
Still want my elephant cannon and Thai civ.
A regular DLC and a chronicles DLC.
A classic Age of Empires II Texture Pack.
Imagine all of DE’s in visual and audio aspects of the game portraying the classic AoEII we all fell in love with: Pre-existing menu, UI, graphics (units, terrain, icons, etc), music and sound effects would match the originals and new assets (the ones introduced from DE, onwards) would be recreated with the same OG vision.
The original game (and HD) had a fantastic charisma that was lost with DE. Don’t get me wrong, i adore DE’s graphics and upgrades, but there is a big nostalgia factor to me - and i can no longer replicate this with newer content that i want to enjoy aswell. It would be something i would be willing to spend my money on.
PROS:
It is a new type of DLC and business opportunity to be explored that would not saturate the current game’s civ group (you know, adding more and more content. While i understand civ DLCs are a big sell point, i feel and see posts about civ saturation and increasing ridiculous bonuses).
Similar to the highly suggested regional skins DLC. It does not affect gameplay in any way, only visually impacting the owner - done to the main target the casualsplayers / nostalgia driven fans. A gamer that is not interested in this part of the game would not be missing out on it.
CONS:
Very time consuming to produce. Self-explanatory. We have had AoEII for more than 20 years now, with content being added yearly in the recente decade. Reproducing the game with a new visual identity almost from scratch would pose a challenge. Perhaps release it in phases? Why not start with the OST. You can find The Last Khans tracks made by Vitalis Eirich remade with the original synth for the classic game, they are wonderful.
Not easy to sell. Again, the “default” DLC sells well, but what will be the stop point? That is why i see a visual downloadble content as something new that could be explored.
Small note: i saw that zooming in on highly pixelated graphics would be an issue but i disagree. I would buy this DLC for this pixels, they would not be an issue and most probably to none who would get it too.
Small note 2: All this is my opinion <3 Started to play Age of Kings since i pretty much remembre. All i want is the best for AoE at this point!
Small note 3: Wished FE/WE or whoever is truly in charge provided a better communication with us fans. It isn’t the best or frequente. They disappear (and even though they have mentioned that when this happens, they are working hard) leaving us in the void. If you make a teaser? Be concrete, no vague speculations (3K coff coff). Provide a road map like you did in the past? Tell us something devs cmon ![]()
A visual overhaul of the “old” hero units and an alternative AI that doesn’t just blindly follow build orders and then attack in endless streams of units.
Generally, I’d like more depth in some areas, but most of that is purely personal and would contradict the core gameplay/idea of the game.
Therefore, I’d be more than happy with additional scenario objects (units, buildings, etc.) to give my custom maps even more flair.
50 more civs so we have a hundred, gotta pump those numbers up
jokes aside, maybe fix the hare decay bug?
