What would you like to see in Myth Retold?

I’ve already mentioned tigers as an animal I would have liked to see added to AOMR with the Immortal Pillars update, but another animal I want to see added is the moose. Moose do in fact live in Scandinavia, so they’d be welcome on Norse maps.

I would like to see this concept created by urglablerg on Reddit, where you can create your own legends and upgrade them for Arena of the Gods and Celestial Challenge game mods

I love this idea! Could also work for daily challenges.
I will also add some chinese representation in AOTG and cellestial challenges (blessings, enemies beeing chinese civs, etc.)

Add beta portraits to the options you can choose/ cycle through for the major/ minor gods. Some of the beta portraits were superior :heart:

In AoE 3 it was the same…

Some extremely small things:

-I really hope the Qilin aura gets a bit of a tone-down. Especially the waves around his feet are visually very oppressive and don’t seem to fit with other healing auras in the game (Freyr TC’s and Hill Forts or Apollo Temples also don’t have such a present graphic for their healing aurus), besides I feel like the green hero-like auro they have are already visible enough for it to visually show its function. (or at least a menu option to tone it down would be nice)

-Give the Gaia lush buildings a slight graphical change (like vines or trees) to show that they are special, kinda like Thor’s forge or Ullr’s Hill Fort)

-And I made a seperate post about this one already, but I really hope you can have another look at the Compendium, and improve the categories, add the campaign texts, and give the classical pantheons some more flavour.

Somewhere on the UI when selecting a god for a skirmish it should show you the Civ specific bonuses (not God specific). For example, I only just found out (from Age wiki) that Norse ships do +10% damage, Egyptian ships cost 10% less etc etc. There is no where in game this information is provided. Civ specific bonuses could appear when you hover over the Civ heading/ name?

I got Auto Everything by building many village centers and auto queuing villagers with the rally point set to the Living Poseidon Statue

Thinking about Baldr:

  • Adding a new tech (Mentioned in another topic)
  • Replacing the fire giant with Grendel (Beowulf antagonist)
  • In case of keeping the fire giant, giving it an upgrade that differs from Hel, like “Legacy of Surtr and Sinmara”

Interesting idea. First i read like this. I personally would already be even more satisfied if the talented devs would change the Gaia trees to the ones used in the GP image. The lush looks great! The more overgrown buildings is an interesting idea i would support but it sounds rather complicated. The tree change would be rather easy compared to this.

Baldr definitely needs more love/attention. Even the tech change for all cav was really great!

Really hoping the new fortifications tech gets an illustration like all the other techs (correct me if Im wrong, but it seems to be a screenshot atm)

With the release of the Japanese coming, I’d love for some of the seemingly half-baked additions to get fleshed out.

  • Arena of the Gods could be great, but needs some overhauling. Shifting conditions on the maps are interesting, but don’t go far enough IMO. There’s also too many maps for one run. That the maps don’t really play very unique and that there’s so many of them is a turn off for me from what could be a fun game mode.
  • New major gods would be nice. Right now, all we have is Freyr. Egypt could benefit from Amun or Apophis, Greece could bump up Athena, Atlantis could get another titan. It would add more diversity without the work of putting a whole new pantheon into the game.
  • Down the line, a Conquer the World mode (plus new pantheons to make that mode more viable).

Overall, there’s a couple features in the game that feel like they were dropped before they had a chance to truly shine. I’d like to see them get some love and be the best version they can be.

Pretty good.
In particular, Egyptian Civ will need to separate Sobek and Hathor completely.
And the only way to make that happen would be to reintroduce Hathor through a new Major God Pack.

The two deities are not compatible with each other, nor have they been historically syncretized or considered the same deity, so it makes me uncomfortable when I see them lumped together in Old Portrait Pack and the Compendium, just because Sobek’s prototype in the game system was Hathor.

There have been a lot of calls for Hathor to be added as a minor God in a pack. If they listen to the community I’d be surprised if this doesn’t happen at some point.

e.g.
Hathor (Classical Age Minor God)
God Power: Festival of Fertility- Villager production rates tripled for a short duration.
Myth Unit: Serpopard- Long necked leopard snake hybrid melee unit with a long range, venomous bite and tail whip ability that stuns units for a short time

On console, turn off name and elo for your opponent in the ranked lobby. Too many disconnects from people just trying to climb the ladder or avoid potential losses via previous matchups

Alternate UI on console. Maybe even the Km Ui option if you’re using a controller still.

It can be also applied to Tyr. Baldr, Tyr and Hel only have two tech in comparison to the other Mythic age gods, however Hel has three myth units.

I’m curious if people would support Hel getting access to the Rock Giant? I’d be all for it, but then again I’m not a rated player and have little understanding of balance in these situations.
