What's the point of demolished buildings cluttering map? And other things

Does anyone actually enjoy seeing a bunch of demolished buildings remaining on the map forever? When trying to fully wipe out the enemy, it becomes unnecessarily cluttered, imo. I don’t understand why this is needed?

And why are there buildings with zero life that remain on the map? My units kept shooting this thing forever, even though there’s no hitpoints left on it. The units are wasting their time for no good reason:

And how did the enemy AI keep spawning a knight at the edge of the map seemingly from thin air? I kept killing one every few minutes or so from the same edge of the map in this area here, with seemingly no buildings to spawn from:

Your screenshot gives the answer. Landmarks are repairable.

I thought that may be, but they should get destroyed fully and have to be rebuilt, imo. Perma-buildings don’t make sense to me… not my favorite gameplay thing either. Like perma-explorers in AoE3

And my military should have enough sense to stop shooting at something that has zero hitpoints and isn’t getting repaired

I guess you are new to aoe4. It is a landmark not an ordinary building. If the landmark are destroyed fully that would not be balanced. It is a gaming mechanic that will never change. And that knight you are talking about is mongol khan and it respawns when he dies like jean darc do. If you are not good with it you can always change the game bro. You dont have to play aoe4.

Lol, great “game mechanic” Very well thought out. Nothing quite says, “This is a great game” like perma-buildings, lol. I’m sure no other game in the franchise proved just how awesome such game mechanics are

I avoid playing AoE4 as much as I can, unless and until tbings are fixed to my liking more (zoom, UI icons, perma-building map clutter, etc)

Why did you make this thread, if this is the case? It makes it seem . . . less than constructive, if I’m being honest (not that “play a different game” is either, but you avoiding AoE IV as much as possible seems like a pre-existing position).

I mean, on-topic, I don’t mind the destruction, it feels realistic (which is why people have regularly highlighted siege death animations as being unrealistic). But I can see why folks could find it personally too much.

Uh mate, I don’t even like AoE 4 myself compared to the ES games but you can be more respectful and constructive, y’know?

Because I still play it every now due to others I play with enjoying it more than me… sacrifices, you know? Similar to why I played AoE3 so much… and wonder why the buildings never fully go away. The other two questions were add-ons to my main question since I saw I screenshotted those at the same time long ago when I captured them for eventual forum posts. These are questions I’ve wondered about a while.

User Garavel took it there with the condescension and unconstruxtive low-blows on a personal level at me. (Am always surprised when stuff like that goes unnoticed. It’s like in football, the instigator is never noticed, it’s the one defending his or herself, or reacting, that gets the penalty flag. In a forum thread, it should be pretty easy to see where things went more awry.) Sorry, you’re right, I should have been better than to let their toxicity affect me. That’s why the forum rules say don’t do personal, ad homimen attacks; to instead criticize the game, not the forum user person, because it can spiral… as happened because of Garavel’s ad hominems. I should have just flagged their post and let you guys decide if you like their words teling me I’m not good and “can always change the game bro”… being all bossy, condescending, bully-like, and telling another player they suck simply because I’ve questioned the awesomeness of their favorite object/game

I didn’t even insult you. What is your problem kid ? I just said you don’t have to play this game. It is the nature of this game and devs wont change it. No need to be offended. It was just a suggestion. If you call this toxicity you havent met a toxic person yet. You are clearly looking for a drama and conflict.

Thanks for clarifying, kid bro
