When can AOE3 add more campaigns?

The first two missions the the first campaign involved fighting Ottomans on Malta so they could of had a Napoleon campaign.

They could have a story narration about the Haitian War of Independence leading into the the Napoleonic Wars involving a unnamed Soldier who fought in both. The Louisiana Purchase could be tied into the story with the unnamed Soldier having a brother who was involved in that event.

I would love a Napoleon campaign at some point with AoE III. I wish they had it from the start but oh well they could correct that now.

The chances of a full-on Napoleonic War campaign DLC at this point is very slim. That said, you never know what may happen. World’s Edge had effectively abandoned AoE3 back in Jan 2025. There was radio silence until July 2026, when out of nowhere it was announced the promised DLC was being released and AoE3 was getting a huge patch that included multiple updates to the single player which no one had expected.

I’m still miffed that proper historical battles for Italy and Malta weren’t included in the KotM DLC. Best I can do for Great Siege of Malta scenario is play the Maltese in skirmish mode with a 10-20 min treaty. Make dozens of wall layers and set up fixed guns before the match starts. Fight against a team of 4+ Ottoman extreme AI. Endure the barrage of enemy units. At least we are getting a proper Malta map in the upcoming patch.

in fact they add several new achievements concerned Napoleon battle for the new DLC, just like Battle of Waterloo( Defeat 2000 mounted units with infantry units). I was exciting and thought they finally add Napoleon campaigns to AOE3 but then I understand that’s totally misunderstand .

It could be Charles Leclerc, Napoleon’s brother-in-law… Alejo Carpentier wrote about the general, his adventures in St. Domingue, and Pauline Bonaparte in The Kingdom of This World. Leclerc is also mentioned in Eduardo Galeano’s Open Veins of Latin America.

Yes, at least those of us who have the Mediterranean DLC should be allowed to play the Blood campaign with the Maltese…

Yes, we all fell for it; we thought, based on the achievements, that a Napoleonic campaign was coming, but they were just references…

Your proof is setting the stage to explain why the knights are going to the new world?

For the same reason Chinese sailors crashed in Central America and fought the Aztecs?

Yeah that campaign also has two missions that don’t take place in the Americas I literally don’t understand what’s your point here.

I was making a joke. From my understanding both a crusader knight expedition to the new world and a Chinese treasure fleet crashing in the new world are highly ahistorical, thus they were obviously there for the same reason: the devs thought it was fun, and they were right imo lol.

Or maybe due to Rise of Nations having one, yeah not the same story telling idk

And of course the Americas setting

Yeah, if they are ever going to do a Napoleonic campaign, they have most of the assets to get one done now. Including a full Napoleonic French card deck to draw from. Legacy AoE3 didn’t draw as much from the era outside of Imperial Age outfits and few other things here and there. KotM started focusing more on the Europe front.

Now if the original AoE3 didn’t have a fictional campaign and we had standard campaigns for each civ similar to AoE2, there would have been the issue of AoE3 setting focusing on the New World, not Europe (so no Napoleonic Wars or any other suggestions like that). There also only minor native settlements, not full-on civilizations, until the Warchiefs expansion. Ottomans were the only exception in that didn’t really settle the New World.

This would limit base AoE3 campaigns to mostly scattered conflicts until the Seven Years War when things go south…

Base AoE3 campaign (assuming we keep the Knights of St. John part)

Prologue/Tutorial - Knights of St. John/Maltese fighting Ottomans and at least one base building level on a Caribbean island.

Ottoman Campaign would be limited to battles against Hospitaller Malta and their allies. Not sure how to involve them in the Americas beyond naval battles.

British Campaign - focus on British American settlement and the French and Indian War period

French Campaign - New France settlement as well as the French and Indian Wars period (Siege of Fort William Henry battle anyone?)

Dutch Campaign - New Netherland settlement mostly. Would feature battles in New Amsterdam and maybe Dutch Brazil vs Portuguese Brazil conflicts

Portuguese Campaign - Colonial Brazil settlement. Could feature Spanish-Portuguese War conflicts.

A full Spain Campaign could have been added in Warchiefs that focuses on the conquest of the Aztec Empire and New Spain settlement. Aztec campaign would be switching perspectives.

Not sure if this would have been better than the fictional campaign but there ya go. The British would probably have the biggest campaign. I can’t think of much for the Germans apart from stuff involving Klein-Venedig territory in South America. Alaska is all the Russians would really have in the Americas.

Great!This is real AOE3!

You’ve listed a lot of things there, hopefully they take note and at least add more historical battles but proper campaigns would be great to appreciated as it would give people like me who don’t do multiplayer playing for longer

Yes, basically American Conquest but with the Ottomans added…

Yes, basically the first third of Blood campaign…

There were no battles fought by the Ottoman Empire on the American continent, as the campaigns and territories of the Ottoman Turks were limited to Europe, Asia, and Africa. (Due to Lepanto, they were never able to expand beyond the eastern Mediterranean.)

Territorial Expansion: The Ottoman Empire extended across three continents (Eastern Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa), but never crossed the Atlantic Ocean nor attempted to colonize the Americas.

Indirect Interactions: Military clashes between American powers (such as the United States in its early days) and Ottoman influence occurred in the Mediterranean Sea or North Africa during the Barbary Wars in the early 19th century (which is already included in the game), not on American soil.

The current Tutorial + the Ice campaign…

Fort Duquesne HB, but done as a campaign…

That would have been interesting… I was in Recife, Brazil in February 2018, and it was part of Dutch Brazil in the 17th century…

Yes, basically Arariboia and the Battle of Rio de Janeiro, but from the Portuguese perspective…

Yes, basically Moctezuma and the Battle of Tenochtitlan, but from the Spanish perspective…

Yes, in American Conquest you have both the colonization of Klein Venedig and the Russian colonization of Alaska against the Haida… In AoE 2 you have the last Muisca mission “The Golden King” where the Teutons (Germans in AoE 3) appear…

Thanks. I don’t how much AoE3’s reception would have changed if the campaigns focused more on real historical conflicts and actually split the campaigns for each civilization. Still, it’s not impossible to do scenarios for them.

More historical battles should definitely be available but sadly neither KotM nor Baltic Powers DLC have any. If there are no more campaigns, at least offer historical battles for those that prefer single player content.

Making an Ottoman campaign in the base AoE3 would have been difficult due to the New World setting. Asian Dynasties allowed the possibility of Ottoman scenarios in Asia. After the Definitive Edition, the setting had further expanded.

Along with the content introduced in the KoTM DLC, there actually would have been a good opportunity to make a full campaign for both the Ottomans and Maltese. Ottomans even had their big overhaul some months afterward. There were plenty of conflicts in the Mediterranean that could have been used in the campaigns…

Ottoman campaign could focus on the Mediterranean front. Battle of Preveza, Battle of Djerba, etc. There would be some intense naval battles and large-scale conflicts as the Ottomans keep pushing westward. The last missions could involve Great Siege of Malta. In the last mission, your armies attempt to take Fort St. Elmo. It’s a brutal siege and there are many casualties. The Ottomans eventually take the fort and are victorious… but the war isn’t over.

The Maltese campaign would switch perspectives. With the Maltese you’re on the defensive, doing everything possible to keep all the castles and forts they hold. Some missions would actually end in defeat, as when the timer ends you are forced to retreat from the overwhelming enemy forces. There would be the devasting loss of Fort St Elmo. However, you would be able to hold out on the Senglea peninsula. The fortresses of St Angelo and St Michael would hold strong. The final mission would involve the arrival of the Grande Soccorso. Aided by Spanish and Italian reinforcements, your armies would charge against the Ottomans in a fierce counterattack. The campaign ends when the Ottomans fully retreat and the Maltese stand victorious.

I could probably think of more scenarios for the other civilizations, now that the Definitive Edition and it’s DLCs have greatly expanded the setting for AoE3.

And it would have been received a little better (although people would still complain that it lacked European and Asian maps)…but the issue of the decks was also a stumbling block…

Yes, they used to give you “historical maps” and now not even that… they’re only going to be “challenge maps”…

Yes, I was planning to do a Suleiman campaign, but I’m missing the Persians to create scenarios in the east of the Ottoman Empire (the capture of Baghdad in 1543 and the siege of Van in 1548) (in the siege of Van I could include French and Spanish/German units as a nod to their respective alliances)…

Nah, too repetitive (I hate defend mission one after another, that why i hate the final English missions in AoE 4)…I’m already doing it with the Maltese using Act 1: Blood… the Baltic DLC comes out on Thursday and by Friday or Saturday at the latest, I’ll release the playable campaign with the Maltese as a mod…

Yes, that sounds good, I’ll make a note of it to add to Suleiman’s campaign and then connect it to the Blood campaign… the Battle of Djerba could even use the Tripoli map from The Burning of USS Philadelphia (the blues and light blues would be the Ottomans, the oranges Tripoli, and the reds the Spanish fleet)… the last mission could be “Breakout” but reversed (I could already have that one now, but as a final mission it sounds too easy with so many Ottoman reinforcements on your side)…

Yes definitely as currently single player content isn’t long enough and only reason to get new dlc is to play the new game modes and challenges

The Maltese missions would be mixture of defensive holdouts and counterattacks against the Ottomans. First mission would focus on base creation and destroying the first bases set up by the Ottomans after they land.

I do appreciate the mods of course, but I wanted an official campaign for the Ottomans and Maltese made by the developers. Something that had cutscenes, narrative elements, and special objectives for each mission.

Yes, it would be nice, but if they didn’t do it when the game came out, I doubt they’ll do it now, unless the game’s popularity picks up significantly… from what I’m seeing, it seems like more than the devs do with the campaigns… they’re only now adding Aztecs to specific Blood scenarios, and they don’t even let you use multiplayer units in the campaign (Maltese units in the case of St. John Knights and the United States units in its campaign version)…
