When will leavers got punished?

I’ve played 4 matches and 2 of them were lost when at minute 1 one of my team just quits without a reason.

This is not an isolated case, I play everyday this game, and this happens a lot of times.

I’m in diamond 2 right now (was conq II latest season), and it’s literally impossible to get to my rank due to this situations.

If someone drops from the match in the first 10 minutes, the match should count as cancelled or just get the points from the people quitting. There’s literally no reason to quit from a game 10 minutes after the start.

There are actually millions of reasons to quit a game in the first 10 minutes because people have lives and things going on around them that sometimes are out of your control.
You are punished as you get a cooldown if you quit too often, punishing people for leaving 1 or 2 games would be too harsh as sometimes your internet just drops or there’s an emergency.

Your argument is simply invalid.

If you have not time to play just don’t. Everyone can have unexpected events happening around that forces you to leave a match, such as internet failures, or things that escapes our control.

I will say more, me, as these people with busy lifes, have a busy life too. If I can play just a few games today, I want it to be normal matches, not people quitting over and over again. Today I’ve played 4 matches and 2 of them someone quitted.

I’ve lost 4 min for each game to not get a penalty, then 3-5 min queue, and lose the points I work hard to win. In fact I’ve lost near 25-30 minutes just queueing, loading games, and waiting to not get penalty. You see?

Despite a random internet failure, if you can’t play a ranked, play quick match, and if you are quitting by proposite you must be banned. It’s just empathy and logic. Logic because you have not time so you shouldn’t be and empathy because you don’t play alone, you will harm others with your quit.

Said that, you really think all of the people I’ve encountered today just left in the first 5 minutes because they got something and had to go?

This is generalised, as I face this kind of situation very very often.

There are several reasons of why people quit in the first 5 minutes, despite the obvious:

  • quitters, people who get mad for some reason and just quits
  • downrankers, people who wanna lose elo and points
  • alternate accounts, people who wanna keep their elo low for the following reasons.

People who create alt accounts keep their elo low so they can premade with friends and boost his elo. I see a lot of conquerors/diamonds queueing with silvers. They screw the elo average, so you end up with your team full of platinum and gold guys vs diamond/conq people, and obviously the silver is not silver.

Then they create other alt account, lose all rankeds and got into silver and rotate the alt account, so everyone of the premade may benefit.

Right now if you quit the game before minute 4 you get penalty, but after you don’t, so people just wait 4 min and quits. If you raise this to 10 minutes it will be more complicated to do it since you have to wait a lot more, disencouraging people to do that.

Also if someone quits in the loading screen, just cancel the match as ridiculously unfair.

Please more empathy, because you are not playing alone, if you want to play alone you have a queue for that, and if you don’t think can stay at the game for 30 minutes average then go quick match or custom.

People that actually quit to keep their elo low are a really tiny percentage of the playerbase and it is unlikely you encounter them that often.

Half of the people quitting are probably kids because their mom is calling them down for dinner and they realize they don’t have time for a whole other game lol don’t think too much into it.

I find smurfs and people doing this quite a lot to be honest. Usually I talk to them and some of them have admit that they do that.

I remember a survey were done about age of people playing this game and the playerbase was far from kids. Of course they exist.

By the way, this doesn’t invalidate my point, by increasing penalties to quitters you will penalize kids, quitters and alternate accounts.

Do you agree at least that in case of drop in loading screen, the match should be cancelled?

Yeah it should be cancelled, I play mostly ranked 1v1 so rarely have any of these issues. I guess the more people in the game the greater chance there is of 1 dropping out and the game is ruined.
