I’m trying to climb ranked team games, but it’s been extremely frustrating. My 1v1 Elo is higher than my team Elo, yet in teams I keep getting stuck because so many matches turn into constant emergency defense. A lot of teammates struggle to deal with one opponent on their own, even though in a 2v2 each player should be able to hold their lane. Instead, they expect me to drop everything and bail them out, which hands tempo and map control to the enemy.
My playstyle is built around a strong mid- and late-game, not nonstop early firefighting. When someone forward-bases or misreads the enemy composition and then can’t defend against a single opponent, I’m forced to abandon my plan and react to their mistakes. For example, if my ally is being Kronos-rushed, I’m usually willing to send Sentinels over to stabilize them — I play Hades and I know how valuable that can be — but I can also handle a Kronos rush on my own. Too often it feels like my allies can’t absorb any pressure at all, and that puts the whole team on the back foot.
On top of that, I often get queued into lobbies with much higher-rated players (around 1500 Elo) who tell me to “just get good.” That’s especially frustrating when my team Elo is around 920 and the matchmaking is mixing very different skill levels. It honestly makes me wonder: if they’re really that good, why aren’t they Rank 1? Being talked down to in games that are already structurally mismatched only makes things worse.
I’m not looking for perfect teammates — just people who can hold their lane, understand basic timing and defense, and play with a plan so both players can execute their strategy. Right now it’s hard to take ranked team games seriously with all the randomness and temperamental players who quit a few minutes in, leaving me to 2v1 for half an hour and think, “If my ally hadn’t left so early, we probably would have won.” I’m genuinely trying to find people to play ranked with who want to improve and actually play as a team.
