Today marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Napoleon Ier, emperor of the french. I don’t make this post to glorifiy his legacy or to tarnish his memory. I think he is an important figure of the time period depicted in the game (with lots and lots of wars, which is what we like in AoE games 🙂 ). By selling Louisiana to the US, he also contributed to shape the political landscape of North America, which is partly the topic of the game. If I was an AoE3 developer, I will be like “Oh that’s a great idea for an event based on Napoleon, with unique visuals and profilte pictures to unlock. We could have various challenges (e.g. beat the English with the French, Beat the French with the Russia on sibera map, kill 500 units with cuirassiers etc.)” I think they missed their shot with this one. Instead we will probably have a dumb seasonal event with goofy stuff when the USA challenge will be over. ---

It were the fall of aztecs and Tenochtitlan foundation anniversary too. Also, there is the 1st trip around the world anniversary, but that doesnt matter I guess ---

Yep, all missed opportunities for meaningfull events. There is still time for the fall of Technothitlan though (13 august) ---

I completely agree! This is such a brilliant idea! You sir are a visionary! Devs! We thank you for the US event but now give us an event for Emperor Napoleon!! We don’t want the trash events we get for DE2 we want epic events like this!! ---

That would be a cool event. I would love to see campaings based on the napoleonic era too. ---

Ya, its weird that probably the most important figure in the era of the game - who litterally reshaped the world, does not have a more proeminent role in the game. ---

Not just Aztecs but the rest of the civs with home cities that don’t have customizations yet from Japanese to Incas. ---

In my opinion, events in AoE 3 should be as frequent as in AoE 2. ---
