Which DLC order would you like for the next 3 years?

Considering we’re going to have 1 AoE2 client DLC each 9 months, so 4 DLCs could be released.

IMO:

November 2026: African DLC
August 2027: Scandinavian DLC
May 2028: legacy civ DLC (Ensemble/Forgotten civ DLC split/rework)
Feb 2029: American DLC (either north, meso and/or south)

Without counting of course updates, Chronicles or V&V like DLCs.

At this moment I only have one wish:

African dlc - Makurians, Hausa and Songhai civs.

Looking at how the real world is going on right now im not holding by breath for a dlc next year.

This is a map from 2023 and some are already added ingame.Good indication of missing civis.

I’m more about using the fun regional units we already have and combining them or limiting their upgrade lines accordingly

This is Age of Empires, not Age of Tribes.

You can’t put insignificant tribes next to impactful medieval empires that lasted for centuries without looking ridiculous.

Songhai and Hausa are far from some insignificant tribes my dude. What is your end game. As a character in this story you make no sense

Too late when Tupi are in the game.

tbh I wish next DLC would be Africa with Nubians, would love another archer civ.

Map filling is easy.

What isn’t as easy is creating a new civ on par with the other brilliantly designed civs.

I agree with good design but… how do YOU objectively define it so we the civ crafters can make you happy and earn our place among the best of the best

If people won’t tell me what the correct design IS I cannot help you

I think North America will be next. Than Sub-Saharan Africa.

Cosmetics aside, I think we should first get African DLC, then East Asin with proper campaigns for the Chinese, Koreans and Japanese. And more Chronicles. I am also starting to believe that the 3 kindgoms should be moved to Chronicles. This way we can also get more Chronicles set in ancient China and Korea. Balhae vs Tang and Silla anyone?

do we have an official announcement for this, or is this your speculation?

fine

will inevitably overlap with Vikings. at most they could add Danes/Swedes etc for the late middle ages, after the viking age.

no north american civ makes sense as an addition to the game. In the south they were already scraping the bottom of the barrel with Tupi.

just because a mistake was made once, doens’t mean they should repeat that mistake. do you want another V&V or another 3K?

I don’t think “good civ design” can be defined objectively, it will always be (at least partially) subjective. Here are my criteria:

  • clear civ identity
  • interesting unique techs and bonuses
  • new mechanics should ideally be avoided, but if they are added they should be impactful and interactable.

In no particular order :

Barbarian Invasions - Vandals, Saxons & a Roman campaign

Saracen split.

Proper East Asian DLC : Tibetans notably, Jurchen Khitan & Chinese campaigns.

The best civ bonuses are those that create the most depth with the least amount of complexity, perfectly fit a particular civ, and don’t step on other civ bonuses.

Like Teuton cheaper farms.

  1. It fits well with the Teutons’ defensive identity. It synergizes well with the Teuton extra garrison space bonus and Crenellation castles.

  2. This bonus is also versatile. You can turn it into a food bonus by building more farms quickly. Or you can use it just as a wood bonus for your siege. Heck, you can even turn it into a gold bonus, as you will always build your farms first and later sell the food at a better price than your opponent.

  3. More importantly, it’s conditional. You have to plan where to make these farms, how to defend them effectively, and later how to utilize this bonus.

This bonus basically would never fit any other civ as well as it fits the Teutons.

My guy that reads like ChatGPT or at best Gemini. “how to defend them effectively, and later how to utilize this bonus.” THATS ALL FARMS!

Utilizing the bonus is brain dead as heck as you just save 24 wood and go about your day. Did you even make sure the bot you’re enslaved to undestands the game. If anything and this may be kinda odd to say you can LESS careful with Teuton farms because you can make them almost twice as often

I’m not sure if you’re a ban evader or not, but regardless, the mods won’t be happy with you. @FloosWorld

There also are civs where if they had the cheaper farm bonus they’d be very appreciative of having it, let me just list them and I’ll start with EVERY CIV (except pastures)

And who are you, literally? You’ve been on this forum for 6 days. Six. Days. DynasticPlanet has been on this forum for 5 years now, and on other AoE forums for a lot longer than that. So can it.
