Which you like better: Burgundians or Sicilians?

I meant Thumb Ring, sorry.

I didn’t mean it as a nerf.
It just feels wrong that the Donjons just gets extra HP on age up.
Also the attack doesn’t change.
Maybe giving it an upgrade that increases HP and attack would balance the disadvantage out. Maybe make this Upgrade researchable in the Donjons themselves.
I’d give the Serjeants a castle age upgrade and make it and the Elite upgrade researchable in the Donjons.
You still need a castle for the UT and the other castle techs and units.

Its less of a balance thing and more about it feeling better and being more consistent with other things in the game.

Well technically Donjons auto-upgrading isn’t any worse than the Korean bonus. But if they gave the civ normal watch tower for feudal age and made the Donjon a fully fledged castle age building they could have had more room to adjust its stats ig.

I chose Burgundians. I liked the unique castle architecture, the Bourguignon language and both UUs. Plus both relics and farmers generate food & gold. Just one tiny thing (apart from Coustilier UU hyper charge) - Flemish Militia to speak Vlaams taal!

Personally I like the design choice of Sicilians better.
Burgundian eco is definitely OP early game though, so would be interesting to see them when this is fixed.

My game crashes when I try to play Sicilians, so I’m gonna have to say Burgundians.

Early game Burg eco sounds like “let’s buy double bit axe while uping to feudal to be temporarily Celts” to me. The bonus is probs only useful for getting double bit axe, bow saw and maybe horse collar earlier. Hand cart and wheelbarrow are too expensive to get earlier, and no one would take mining upgrades in dark age 11.

I’m going to make this argument as a veteran noob player. I’ve played this game since 1999 when the game came out, but only play casually.

The combination of their current eco bonus, and stable upgrade discount isn’t balanced in casual play.
I tested this with a group of friends, and we each took turn playing Burgundians. The Burgundian player consistently had a full attack force ready 20%-40% faster than they otherwise would. Not one of the games we played lead to a Burgundian loosing 1v1.

I don’t really care if it’s balanced on pro level. It needs to be balanced both on the pro and noob level. This isn’t League of Legends luckily.

I can like them only after some nerf

It is been 7 days since I posted this poll…and is is near dead even: with Sicilians leading 2 points with 51% popularity and Burgundians with 49% popularity. (104 players voted)

Quite extraordinary results!

POLL IS NOW CLOSED!
