Just being pedantic. I can’t help it sometimes. As for Janissaries, even in 1999, I don’t think removing the hat was the best way to solve the perceived problem.

There was no such thing as an “Iberian Language” in the Middle Ages: Old Portuguese aka Galician-Portuguese was a language since at least the late IX century and different from the other languages of the Iberian Peninsula at the time which included Asturleonese, Old Castilian, Pyrenean Mozarabic, Old Catalonian and Andalusian Mozarabic. Not trying to start a fight, just offering a correction.
Back in those days, the use of Teuton and German and their equivalents in other languages was interchangeable. I much rather they keep this name.
