Why Does No One Want Age of Empires V Set in the Period from 1 Million to 100,000 Years Ago?

In that case, we want Spore 2.

Nah I disagree. Age 1 was much more than a concept, it was revolutionary. While other RTS games at that time were just fancy dune clones, in terms of using same strategy defend, gain credits, mass army and attack - age of empires offered much more robust game-play. Now you have 4 resources to manage, you can develop your economy further with farms, you could still mass weak units and attack or you could wait to upgrade them first. The food economy was very interesting concept which was lost in the later games, You start with abundance of food but if you don’t develop into farms mid game you are in trouble. In later game you have tons of food but other resources are diminishing so now you have to rely on trade. It was totally different experience from the other games and it deserves a comeback. I still play Age 1 definitive edition besides the poor unit control path it is still fun for me. I hate the conversion unit mechanic though it is exhausting, but I love the missions with just a single priest I wish that we had more scenarios like that in the other games.

Why do some people think that prehistory is the same as talking about the ancient period?

They should just make Rise of Nations 2 instead…

Yes, Age of Empires 1 had a different pacing compared to other RTS games of the time and its sequels… Return of Rome is basically Age of Empires 2 set in antiquity and without UUs…

Perhaps it’s because in AoE 1 you have prehistory (Stone Age) and the ancient/classical era (Bronze-Iron Ages)…
