They only get a maximum of 14 range (not including native tps) and can easily be outranged by regular skirmishers.
Oh, wait a minute, I forgot about strelet horde. But that’s still only 16 range.
Imperial gives +2 for 18 total. Imo Strelet Horde shouldn’t add range and Vet and Guard should add +1 each.
I guess it’s to encourage players to use the card. After all, building a bunch of blockhouses is tedious, especially if you already have all three infantry train time benefits.
They get extra range primarily to help Russia in treaty, the faction doesn’t need weird tricks to be competitive in normal 1 v 1.
The real question is:
“why doesn’t get riflemen mercenaries or natives from the home city?”
That’s what I want to know
Because they are not rangers.
They are meant to get nice and close to the enemy by spamming hordes at them (Also why they start with 4,5 speed, high ranged armor and a card that increases their MELEE attack of all things).

Other than that, 18 range isn’t bad, barely below the average of 20.
If you struggle too much against enemy skirmishers because of range, you could try
- The infinite Oldenburg allies card.
- Get lucky with Jaegers in the tavern
- Try using archers/skirmishers from trading posts
- Or revolt to Finland, where you get 20 range jaegers assured.
(Or use cav/falcs)
If Strelets got +1 range from veteran and guard improvements they would have 20 range with almost 5 speed which would be crazy for such a easily spammed unit which is why they don’t get increased range from veteran and guard techs.
Note: That is Imperial Strelet stats from a while ago when I did a unit comparison with all techs and cards not sure if any stats have changed since then.
My point was no more range from Strelet Horde, +1 from vet and Guard, 14 + 1, +1, +2 from Imperial, = 18 range.

Increasing in age, Russians have the option that blockhouses give a population. That is, the developers envisaged turtle tactics for the Russians. But the turtle can only be done through mass forts and then at age 4 lol!

There are no problems at all in the treaty. One of the best nations. The problem is that the age 2 rush is one of the weakest.
No, everything is the same. But I propose removing the range from the horde and moving it to barracks upgrades. In general, the HORDE card needs to be removed from the game or remade.

Strelet Horde should not be removed I hate to see things removed from civs.
In legacy AoE III Strelet Horde just increased Strelet HP by 10% and had all Blockhouses currently built and future built ones slowly spawn 5 Strelets so here in DE they buffed it by adding range increase on top of that so I am not opposed to having a different buff added if veteran and guard upgrade added +1 range to Strelets.
Thinking about what that other buff could be to Strelet Horde I think allowing for bigger batches to be trained so you click to train Strelets in groups of 10 like normal then each addition click increases it by 1 being able to train at max 15 at a time.
Another possible buff could be make Strelets cost changed from Food and Wood to Food and Coin which is a change I personally would love.

You mean all the new higher speed infantry created problems for older civs?! No one could have possibly predicted this…
It doesn’t give anything at all. Yumi Archer make 3 volley before strelet make 1. So speed only works on fleeing musketeers and crossbowmen, and I wouldn’t say it’s very effective because of the range of 14. Only the strelets have problems here.
