Exactly
A lot of Area of Effect (AoE) Damage that would change things in a sec
But that is just only one aspect. those sort of God powers become available later in the game. And some of them clearly not intended. As indicated by the numerous nerfs to Isis/mythic in general/Bronze nerf. What makes a game competitive is the abbility to have an equal chance based on skill and lack on randomness.
Although what you said is true, Still skill gets to say who wins, even in pro games. Now granted the fact that you can lose your entire army to a tornado is frustrating, it can be easily fixed with some tweaks. And AoM gets a huge flavor just by these alone. AoM is the only competitive that is not only fun to play but also fun to watch in competitive scene.
Saying that is not simply true.
There are thousands of players and even more if you count Console players
This game will always have its following. All of RTS games have low player numbers. Retold was mostly sold over game pass and consoles so steam numbers donāt tell much.
Imma say this here and it is up to you to agree or not, your main problem is that you are playing 1v1s. You should play 4v4/3v3.
Clearly not. If you look at the statistics in aomstats.io, the win rates are defined more by the match up than the player skills, otherwise this table wouldnāt look like this. Match ups with 60% + win rates shouldnāt exist in a ācompetitiveā game.
Besides, there are god powers that you simply cannot skill your way around, especially stuff like meteor, tornado, all sorts of storms, floods and hurricanes added in the last 2 DLCs that simply wash away your base and the only counter skill is to not let your opponent get there. This is not a āskill basedā game and it will never be, no matter how hard the devs are trying. Pro players are just there for the bucks, and anyone trying to live their life according to aom ladder should find better ways to waste their time.
The purpose of this game is to chill and troll around in team games or AI stomps, and not take it too serious. Which is totally fine, this is a game after all.
Yea i didnt write and in deph reason Ing. Thats just the most obvious one.
When they come at doesnt matter in terms of age. Its the impact and timings it allows. As i said, you have to look at this things only from the top player perspective. Casual pov doesnt matter in this aspect. Theres timings that result in you simply shutting down what your opponent tried to do because of god powers. Hence like you said they are nerfed. And you can clearly see this aspects shine in tournaments.
It limits skill expression. Not thats theres no skill involved in aom. There surely is. But theres only so much you can do against a meteor for example.
This sort of things make for fantƔstic and fun player experience in lower levels, but when you fully optimize it, becomes oppresive. And most players wont wait till the devs figure it out and balance it at thr top level. They would simply go to a game.
Yea, its not the most popular game, thats not news. Dunno what kinda come back you were expecting with that?
ādead gameā is a dooming phrase people throw around to whatever they want to, like you do. Yes the playerbase is small, now one is gonna argue that against you. Do you feel better/validated after that screen shot?
that it true but to say that AoM is not competitive is wrong. AoM is a competitive game , maybe not THE MOST competitve but it is a competitive game non the less. It has a solid skill set that can out shine every thing. The problem with it is that it is the most difficult game.
When a game becomes super difficult to a point that no human can manage it randomness slips in. But AoM hasnāt reached that point yet.
Competitive games are defined by the amount of influence skill tends to have on the game. And for AoM this is easily provable by the amount of players and performing way too consistently at the top level. The mista has been on the top since the very beginning of the game and others also have stood on top. In a non competitive game these postions would be fluctuating rapidly.
Yes, I have all the DLCs that came out since Return of Rome and I havenāt played any of them, except for VaV (in its modded version) and Battle for Greeceā¦

Thatās strange⦠you donāt have the premium version? I played with the Chinese 3 days before they came out try them in the editor and I played the Japanese a little bit after they came out, but then my PC broke and I had to wait about a month to be able to play them and I finally got to play them (I even downloaded the reworked Tale of the Dragon campaign as a mod and got like 3 achievements with the Chinese ones xd)ā¦
Yes, I was planning to buy the fourth one and its expansions, but between the need to balance the civilizations and what they did to Age of Empires III (which still hurts), sometimes I reconsider supporting the developersā¦
Hmm⦠I feel like the sacrifice in AoE 3 was for nothing⦠at the rate weāre going, I feel like we wonāt see any American pantheonsā¦
Yes, AoM is still competitive, but if they keep adding mythologies, it will be quite difficult to balance in the coming yearsā¦
A good reason for return to AoE III development
you said you reinstalled so of course in the meantime you lost skill. All original civs have stronger age 4 super mythic powers btw apart from maybe Japan these days who are totally OP still. I know this because I play all gods including DLC.
I feel like both new civs are really well designed though and I think nostalgia has you more critical than anything.
Yes, but I had no desire. I only completed their campaign a month after the Japanese arrived.
They have DOW 4 coming up, and theyāll need every available hand before the release. Sadly, it wonāt work for you.
They cannot afford to divert resources from the age of empires saga to focus on some relatively unknown franchise. They may rotate devs but not give up on a franchise completely like that. They can have an either/or between aom and aoe3, but not drop both unless Microsoft wants them to.
Pero si el DOW no tiene nada que ver con la saga aoe⦠por que forgotten tendria que brindar asistencia al equipo de DOW
Relic is the gameās publisher. If there are any issues with the release, the AOM team will step in to assist the DOW 4 development team.
They definitely wonāt have a single free minute to return to anything.
MS and WE are not involved in the development of DoW IV. The involved studios are King Art Games and Deep Silver
The thing is if this new entry is done really well, it will become a threat not only to AoM Retold but for all Age of Empires franchise
Relic Entertainment has nothing to do with DoW IV as they failed commercially and critically with DoW III. They only keep on supporting DoW I Definitive Edition and being consulted about design and development of DoW Series.
Please research better!

Piensa que Relic Entertainment sigue haciendo Dawn of War jajaja
Buen juego
