This is the one game where a more generic Indian civ would work (assuming Indian people don’t rage about it), and you suggest something more specific lmao

I’d call them Hindus or something though, instead of “Indians”.

Yes, Indians like AoE Online, focused on the Mauryas from 0AD and perhaps Delhi Sultanate and Tughlaq Dynasty from AoE 4, but with mythological units…

This would cause a ton of problems as these are islamic dynasties.

This might also enrage a ton of people.Vadic might be less problematic.

I don’t know if you mean architecture or what, but I meant generic as in the religion/subcontinent, not covering their whole history.

I see. You mean “Vedic”, though.

Damn, you’re right… well then let it be just the Mauryans (321-185 BC), then the Guptas (320-550 AD) and finally the Kannauj Triangle (Pala/Bengalis, Gurjara and Rashtrakuta/Dravidians) (730-1161) (connecting with AoE 2)…

AoM doesn’t really do specific time periods, neither does it deliberately connect with other games’ timelines.

Yes, I know…it’s just an example…any mythology between 3000 BC (Egyptians) and 1500 AD (Aztecs) can be included in the game…

🌍 Ancient Mythologies (3000–500 BCE)

Sumerian: The earliest written narratives, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, featuring gods like Enlil and Inanna.

Babylonian: The Enuma Elish recounts how Marduk defeats Tiamat and organizes the cosmos.

Hittite Mythology: Tales of storm gods and battles against dragons, influenced by Mesopotamia.

⚔ Classical and Late Mythologies (500 BCE–500 CE)

Celtic Mythology: Druidic tales about Cernunnos and Morrigan, transmitted orally in Ireland and Gaul.

Persian Mythology: Zoroastrianism introduces the cosmic struggle between Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu.

🌎 Medieval and Pre-Columbian Mythologies (500–1500 CE)

Mayan Mythology: The Popol Vuh describes the creation of humankind from maize and the adventures of the Hero Twins.

Incan Mythology: Viracocha as creator and the solar cult of Inti, legitimizing the emperor as the son of the Sun.

Ok so the main issue is to create a feasible faction that is mythological, not fictional.

**Are Anunnaki from Planet Nibiru fictional or Mythological ?**
Could be a cool concept for Mesopotamian/Babylonian/Sumerian pantheon.

The **Anunnaki** are originally **mythological deities** from ancient Mesopotamia (Sumer, Akkad, Assyria, Babylonia). In cuneiform texts, they appear as a group of gods associated with the underworld, fate, and cosmic order. They are part of the religious pantheon, not aliens.

The idea that the Anunnaki come from **Planet Nibiru** is a **modern fictional reinterpretation** , popularized in the late 20th century by writers like Zecharia Sitchin. He claimed that Mesopotamian myths described it as “ancient aliens”…
