May be somebody at Aoe 2 want to hide the Real History and he/she want to change it with a Fictional/ fake History.
no need to do that, the aoe2 campaigns are already full of all sorts of historical innacuracies.

I wonder if anyone would actually take offence of that word, it is merely used to refer to one of the civs in the game

Did the devs already exclude all AI names from the filter? Sometimes if you play against the AI, it’s name becomes ************* 
This shows how bad the filter is.
