Why it's hard to predict which era the new Age of Empires will be in

I thought alot about how hard it is to pin point a pattern in aoe 2 and aoe 3 upgradble ages. Both aoe 2 and 3 ended with Imperial age. Though aoe 3 had 4 ages excluded the first which the the third one was industral age.
In aoe 2 the gap between ages was really big. It begins in the dark ages and moves all the way up to imperial, with feudal and castle in between. This represents a period of more or less 700 years. This spread is much longer then aoe 3. Which spands between the late 1400 to the late 1700 and maybe even early 1800. Note that the game is not 100% historical accurate and the years i write just sums all the tech, time and geography the games show.
Because of this wast time diffirence between these two games it’s harder to pin point a pattern. We could use the simple pattern that aoe 2 is medival and aoe 3 is colonial/imperial. Because of this the logic step in a chronicle manner is to set aoe 4 between industrial revolution - African colonial period - The great war, which is the begging of the end for industrial monopoly and European hegonomy because of the total industrial destruction of each other.
But as i said before it’s very hard to follow a pattern because of the wast diffirence in the ages you upgrade to. What are yout thoughts?

I think AoE4 will probably go back into medieval times until 1600

I hope AOE4 will features from imperial age to second world war. Microsoft’s magazine image posted couple of years earlier does suggest that a little bit. That will be SUPER AWESOME.
