Why is there no Ranked in the new DLC Return of Rome?
Biggest disappointment ever. Was looking forward to this big DLC with different civs and stuff.
But only play Ranked.
Please fix ranked in RoR

But then why you have RoR Elo??? It doesn’t make sense
I thought that the RoR will come with ranked games (at least is what I understood from the steam page)

It has ranked lobbies, No? At least that is what i saw in survivalist Stream Last night.
Lobbies are terrible compared to a proper ranked match making system, even if the lobby is a ranked lobby. No ranked match making system makes the experience so much worse. For me it is one of the reasons to not buy the DLC yet.
- AoE1 has no proper ranked system. Only terrible lobbies.
- Romans isnt even available yet as ranked civ for AoE2.
There is no reason to buy the DLC yet for me.

the worst thing is that the lobby system is a complete mess in aoe2, from the design to the limiting filters, and even with the fact that u are never sure if the game is showing you all the lobbies or there are some hidden ones. We really need a freaking UI redesign for this mess of a game.

I think the reason why there’s no ranked matchmaking in RoR comes down to a matter of resources and the support of the servers. If they were to add a ranked matchmaking to RoR it would consume a lot of effort, time and most importantly money in order to adapt the servers; but they need to know that the investment is worth it. Given that the AoE 1 DE player base is the lowest on the entire series the devs probably thought the investment to adapt the servers for a RoR ranked matchmaking was not worth it. Remember that a couple of years ago Deathmatch was removed from the queue matchmaking and was replaced by Empire Wars, and the reason was quite similar: EW was more popular while DM was not. (I don’t know how busy the EW ranked queue is at the moment though).
