I think it needs to change because the new three civilizations are already Viking peoples. A separate Viking civilization would be ridiculous. I think the existing Viking civilization could be called something like Norwegians or Nordics, or something better. That’s not important; the important thing is the change. This way, Vikings would be perfectly represented with four distinct civilizations. ---

Norse would be the best name, but it isn’t a big deal. Names are easy to change with a mod. ---

**How to rename civilizations in AoE II: DE on PC** 1. Open the game installation folder. 2. Go to: ```auto ``` ```auto resources\en\strings\key-value ``` 1. Make a backup copy of: ```auto ``` ```auto key-value-strings-utf8.txt ``` 1. Open the original file with Notepad or Notepad++. 2. Press **Ctrl + F** and search for the civilization name, including quotation marks, for example: ```auto ``` ```auto "Vikings" ``` 1. Change only the name and leave the number unchanged: ```auto ``` ```auto 10292 "Vikings" ``` becomes: ```auto ``` ```auto 10292 "Norse" ``` ---

I’d like to see Slavs renamed more than Vikings, NGL 😛 ---

We kinda have Rus now with varangians so its less likely now. ---

They could be Kievans or Ruthenians. It feels wrong to have Slavs alongside Poles and Bohemians… ---

We’ll see when the patch arrives, but i think the name will stay. It seems the devs want to preserve the clasical civs and just make some reworks. I suspect this due to Varangians instead of Swedes.
